Breathtaking in its deliberateness, magnitude, and hubris
A hefty wench.
I've got one of those. -
Only one outcome in my opinion. Once you've left you'll realise you did the right thing. You can still see your exes for a drink...

Oof! Are those chi-sonic pickups, or something?

Playing Festivals (Witney 2016) and others
discreet replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
Played a 24-hour fundraiser in London a couple of weeks ago, we were support to the main act and scheduled to play for an hour at 23:00... but the management told us 'things were running a bit late' and we eventually got on stage at 01:00. By this time the audience were, ah... 'well-primed', so we got an excellent reception, albeit booze-fuelled. Though generally I prefer to be on my merry way a little earlier... I think 2 hours late is pushing it somewhat. -
I should really think about flight casing my baby as well.
OK, but be sure to specify air holes so it can breathe. -
Douglas bought pickups from me in a smooth Anglo-French transaction. All good and highly recommended.

Advice on Fender MIM Jazz bass headstock

Definitely not firewood. A good luthier will easily be able to fix it. Should be tens of pounds rather than hundreds. -

PP as a gift, or bank transfer. PLEASE NOTE there is no packaging as I used the box to send some other strings, but they are most definitely DR Sunbeams and they will be very securely packed! As new - they have been on my Hayman 2+2 briefly but are not cut, so suitable for any bass. Great strings, but I prefer flats! I thank you!
I thought Hubris were a prog band from Cumbria in the early seventies.
No, I think that was Prolapse. -
Doesn't some music require long notes..?
Yes and bass guitars are quite capable of producing them. But I've never played a bass where I've thought, 'Strike me pink guv'nor, this a handsome bass and no mistake, me old China. If only it 'ad a bit more sustain, it'd be perfick!'

Not seen one before. I have doubts about its effectiveness as a sustain-improver. Why people seem to think sustain is a desirable trait for a bass guitar has always baffled me, too.
Without having to resort to Google, what, pray tell, is Hubris? In all my 43 years on this earth I have never had the need to use this word. Am I missing out?
It means 'excessive pride or self-confidence', usually misplaced. I use it a lot. -
...just an example of getting the right instrument, strings and interface for the project you're doing, and you don't need much else...
I can believe it. Whether you're recording bass, guitar, piano, vocal or anything really, a quality pre is all. That's what those vintage desks were all about. Quality components!
Who cares! No-one is listening to you!
Do you mean no-one is listening to me personally, or bass players in general? Or both?

I've got an Edirol UA5, which is old but sounds fantastic. However, when I want the sound of my amp I get good results from playing bass along with a (quiet) backing track while recording it onto a Zoom H1 in front of the cab - then importing the audio file from that into my DAW for editing and mixing. Works a treat and no latency issues.

TRADED: Fender American Vintage 1957 Precision Bass (2007, 2tsb)

If you don't otherwise have pedals it's annoying to go to the trouble of having one just for tuning. If you already have pedals, and a power supply, then it's not much extra faff. The Korg Pitchclip is the easiest clip-on I've found so far, and it's very good on batteries compared with the D'Addaro/Planet Waves tuners.
