1.
It's far more about behaviour than gear for me.
Me too. I have good gear because I'm a gear-head, but none of my current band get GAS to any appreciable extent. But they are great musicians and they all prioritise the band; they turn up on time for rehearsals and gigs; they love gigging and they're very punctual and reliable in general. They have their own transport, they never make some lame-ass excuse not to turn up and they don't let their partners get in the way of their music agenda. In short they love what they're doing. I can easily forgive them their somewhat iffy gear; bands like this are hard to find.
 2.
Maybe these aren't Barefaced cabs after all. Maybe it's a big trick to put people off the scent ;-p
You'd like to think that, wouldn't you?
...buying the gear doesn't always give you the same tone as the artist using it.
I'd say it almost never gives you the same tone as the artist using it. Like signature basses. The point is, he thinks Barefaced gear is more than good enough, the implication being that if it's good enough for him, then it's good enough for you.
 3.
The guy is obviously very discerning, and it's a great coup for Barefaced. But I still had to look him up :-)
Don't get me wrong, but I think it may be true to say you're not really in the target audience for his kind of music. And to be fair I wouldn't have known who he was but for the fact that I was once in a band that covered a couple of Audioslave songs.
 4.
'Widely regarded' by people who know who he is, anyway.
Yes, those people who are likely to be potential Barefaced customers.
Don't worry, everyone else knows exactly what you mean.
5.
People think they need loads of gear when they don't!

Here's what I'm talking about! TWO One10s?? That's just overkill!!
 6. I used a Bill Fitzmaurice Jack 12 (1X12) in a 9-piece function band with 3-piece brass section, 3 singers, drums and guitar. This with a Markbass LM250. Never missed a beat. We were playing mostly Stax and Motown covers. I'm currently rocking a 1X10 (BF One10) in my current band with 300W/8ohms and it's great. keep thinking I should do what Rob's done and buy another One10, but it's just not necessary. People think they need loads of gear when they don't!
 7.
Bought a catering pack - i knew this would run for a while... :-)
Ah, there you are - the man who lit the blue touchpaper and retired! Nicely done! Now give me a biscuit, please...
 8.
Having owned both, the 300W version made the TNT series seem lightweight in comparison. Both did a fair bit of damage to the wheel arches in the boot space of my Citroen(s) at the time
Ha! The TNT may be relatively lightweight, but it really makes its presence known when in the boot of my car. I can feel the weight when I'm driving, and definitely don't get such good fuel consumption when I'm carrying it! I don't think the MiniMax/One10 rig makes a significant difference.
 9.
This is for you DIscreet..
As always Sean, I'm delighted to receive a spanking from you - especially an unexpected one. Not quite sure what I'm being 'punished' for though, to be honest. Oh well, a spanking is a spanking... we take our pleasures where we can...
 10.
This post/comment beggars belief; it is tantamount to baiting!
Not at all, it's genuine curiosity. I must have read (and participated in) most, if not all of the Barefaced threads and there are two or three people I would have expected to contribute to this thread. For whatever reasons, they have not. It's their choice, obviously. I'm not trying to bait anyone.
 11.
Lets not forget that Macca uses a Hofner with flats. I don't think anything but 'woolly' is an option.
Are you saying Macca's tone isn't good? No wonder The Beatles didn't sell any records.
 12.
McCartney...
Nah, as we all know Macca likes a nice 'woolly' tone so is an Ashdown fanboi.
 13.
Or maybe its because being shouted down by the fan club becomes tiresome ?
Possibly. Or perhaps they have nothing to say.
 14.
I hope you aren't referring to me!
No I'm not referring to you. You've already been quite active in this thread...
 15.
No he couldn't. Marshall don't give kit for free. The artists pay for it. They get a lot of support for tours etc thrown in, but they pay for the gear.
Yes, obviously I should have said 'virtually any brand'. I think my point was clear.
 16.
I eagerly await the next time anyone on BC actually tries yet dislikes a barefaced cab (yes it does happen), "well what does TC know about gigging?" will be the standard response!
Ha! I notice one or two members who usually like to chime in on a Barefaced thread are here conspicuous by their absence. Perhaps they are on holiday, or something..?
 17.
The thing is though orchestras play the exact same thing near enough, notes, timing etc since they were invented. An orchestra is made to play original pieces pretty much exactly as intended.
Orchestras are actually covers bands!
 18.
Should the Beatles have stopped when Macca died..?

Superlative customer service from Dave as usual. Ordered a custom Speakon cable and Dave had it in the post yesterday for delivery this morning, I can't say any more than I have already said in these pages, Dave is the man for cables, end of!
I said it on May 6th and I'm saying it again now! Another top-quality custom Speakon cable, thanks Dave!
 20.
Well, yes. But done behind a curtain.
I'll do YOU behind a curtain in a minute. *Runs away* Other news: Just FYI, I sent the TNT 160 serial number to Peavey to see if they could tell me anything about it, and got this reply: Hello Mark Thank you for your support of Peavey products and for contacting us here at the factory. The TNT160 amplifier came equipped with the Peavey Scorpion speaker at that time, but there was an option for a Peavey Black Widow speaker. These models weighed 77 and 82lbs. respectively. The Scorpion model speaker could handle 200 watts RMS and the Black Widow model could handle 350 watts RMS. The RMS wattage of the amp was 150 watts RMS. The year of manufacture for your amplifier is 1990. Here is a link to the original operating guide from our website; http://assets.peavey.com/literature/manuals/80301192.pdf If you should have further questions, please feel free to contact us here at the factory and we will be glad to assist. Sincerely Mike Brown Peavey Customer Service With some difficulty I weighed the 160 on bathroom scales and it's the 77lb (35kg) version, thank God! 82lbs is 37kg. So it's the 150W RMS amp into the 200W RMS Scorpion speaker. Just thought you'd like to know...
 21.
Now we have the new Lozz shoot-out for the Bash
What, hit each amp with a 4lb lump hammer for 30 seconds and see which sounds best afterwards..?
 22. If it's a famous name that has sold a lot of records over decades then that name has a current value which can be calculated to the decimal point. No-one in their right mind is going to give that up for a moral principle or some half-baked idea of 'respect' for the brand.
 23.
now you're being silly. I just need to know if it can handle being dropped down a pub fire escape by a drunken idiot, I don't think that's an unreasonable request
Well if it means getting drunk, I'm up for it...
 24.
Fairy liquid down the back of it is always a good test
Good idea! Should probably pour a pint of bitter over it as well to simulate gigging conditions.
