  1. No P Bass in the house for the first time since 1976. O.o

Ah Ha! That can't be true as Fender don't have a factory in Germany  You may find your new P bass that is on it's way from Germany, could actually be a cunningly disguised ironing board with a Fender decal on it. 🙁

Post a pic of it and let the experts decide...

When I say 'from Germany', I do of course mean, 'from Thomann'...

  2. Good question - if one isn't available, the OP could always Google bus or train timetables. Failing that, simply run away.
  3. Yes - forms to be acquired that are rambling, pointless and ask for arcane details you can't possibly know. Then you have to deliver them in person to Mordor, fight Orcs, climb Mount Doom, all sorts. Then discover three years later that your application for compensation 'was not properly submitted'...
  4. Absolutely agree, but good customer service costs money. I don't have actual proof that privatisation has had a negative effect on RM's service and other delivery services are available. Just sayin'.
  5. Having preferred a P Bass with La Bella 760FS flats for years, I'm now enjoying a Jazz strung with Fender 7250M rounds. Why? I do not know...
  6. Seriousness is relative... I don't think this will stop BC members from trading, but it might make them reluctant to post anything really valuable for a while. Sending items by post always carries a certain amount of risk and if something goes wrong it's difficult to get compensation. This has been the case for as long as I can remember and it's always a lottery. Little comfort when it happens to you. But Royal Mail need to make money for their shareholders - that's their priority. The only way to be 100% sure of avoiding loss or damage is for sellers to deliver items personally or have buyers collect them.
  7. Adding a 'fragile' sticker is likely to attract 'special treatment'. If I'm sending something fragile, I'd never advertise the fact on the package. Yes, I do. Not by you obviously, but items do get kicked around, or at least arrive in a kicked-around state. It does happen I'm sure.
  8. Trouble is, there's TalkBass, Andy Baxter, Bass Direct, The Bass Gallery, Vintage & Rare, Classic & Cool, Wunjo, PMT, Gear4Music, Thomann...
  9. My Roadworn P sounded very good indeed through a Fender Rumble V3 500 Combo... other amps are available.
  10. Actually that's my least favourite detail... especially as I once genuinely accidentally put a fag burn on a P Bass headstock in 1976. If you had told me then that basses would come with fake pre-burnt headstocks from new, I would NOT have believed it...
  11. Right up there with the very best. Superb all-round P Bass. Regret selling mine (of course). You just can't get better value than this. Why spend thousands when you can spend hundreds on a Road Worn and get the same quality?
  12. From rounds to flats and now back to rounds. Twang! Boing!

I've never managed to stick with rounds for long in the last few years, but sometimes flats feel a bit too stiff and thumpy on the low strings.  Enjoying TI Jazz flats at the moment...

  13. Wow! A looker. This won't be here for long. Fendery P goodness for peanuts!
  14. *SOLD* La Bella 760FS Flats 45-105 Through-Body Finally... you can experiment with flats on your through-body bass. They are played-in and ready to thump. The silks are a little tatty, but look fine once strung. Bass Direct have them at £38 plus £2 shipping, so I think £26 posted is reasonable. Years of use left in these. Edit: I should mention - these strings are uncut and unmolested. I never cut flats. Now SOLD, thanks.
  15. This is why I don't post my favourite neo-folk deathcore tracks any more - unbelievably, there are those here who don't like them! Much as those people who play 'music' in their cars at ârse-shattering levels are under the impression that it's OK because their taste in music is so bloody cool, that everyone must like it...
  16. I blame BassChat specifically. I was quite happy with the same bass and amp for thirty-six years, then I joined BassChat and all bloody hell broke loose. Recently bought a Vintage VJ74 Jazz Bass, a couple of weeks ago a Tech21 Blonde clone, a few months before that a Fender Rumble V3 500 combo. Just the tip of a very big iceberg going back in time to 2010, when I became a member here... but when I look at my feedback, I can hardly remember any of the deals and can hardly remember any of the gear either. It's decadent, ecologically unsound, bad for one's mental health and... ooh look, a white P Bass!!
  17. Thanks! Oh Lordy - white, mint and maple. The holy trinity. I'm in trouble.
  18. Take phone pics. Go to Basschat. Click on 'Click to choose files' at bottom of post. Select pics. Click 'Submit'. Done.
  19. Matter of principle, innit? They disrespected our faahhhmlee. End of.
  20. Yeah, that's totally unacceptable. I think I would have let them know exactly what I thought about that and moved on.
  21. Aggh! GAS! Please, please post some pics, it sounds amazing.
  22. Yes, they're wänkers. The OP has been involved in the band equivalent of a zero-hours contract. Not surprising though really, in a gig economy. Wakka! Wakka!
