1.
The history of Barefaced has a lot to do with it ... essentially the company could almost be seen as a spin-off from Basschat, with Alex Claber proving his point / putting his money where his mouth was by actually designing, building and marketing his own cabs. For no reason that I've ever understood, that's left a legacy of ... best choose my words carefully here ... friction between Alex and a number of others with ... erm ... strong views on the subject.

All before my time then.
Before my time too, though that would certainly explain a lot!
 2. If you've retired a Precision, a Jazz and a Stingray because you can't get the sound you want out of them, I can understand why you're depressed! Those three basses must between them be on pretty much every pop and rock record from around 1957!
 3.
Yep, US Standard Mark, made in 2015. The ones with the Custom Shop Pickup. Deep chunky neck, deep chunky sound, everything about it says old-school, but it just plays so well and although still just over 9lbs feels so much less cumbersome than older instruments.
Heh! You're selling it to me, Lozz! Edit: Though I see the board radius is 9.5"... I prefer 7.25" whenever possible... hmm.
 4.
I've not yet played a vintage instrument I like as much as my 2015.
I assume we're talking USA here, Lozz..?
 5.
I've got a Precision that's as old as I am. It feels, plays and smells beautiful!
I'm sure you do, too.
 6.
Several years down the line we have a BF 4x10 that looks exactly like every other 410 and yet that very design was criticised and lambasted by Alex et al for being the antithesis of all that was bad with bass cabinet design.

Barefaced fanboi that I am, I have to say that I saw the 410 and thought ... Hmmmm ...
Is anyone actually reading the specs and info on the 410? It looks exactly like every other 410 (if a little smaller and lighter), but that's where the similarity ends. Alex rightly criticised conventional 410s for their dispersion issues and the fact that they tend to lose bottom end at extreme volumes. Both these issues have allegedly been resolved in the new Barefaced 410. I have yet to hear one, but my experience of the company and its products over the years leads me to believe that I wouldn't be disappointed with it. http://barefacedbass.com/product-range/four-10.htm If I had been holding off buying a Barefaced because I had a full-size all-valve amp that would overhang a conventional BF cab, I'd be clicking the 'buy' button right now.
 7.
Yes but they are always told that they are wrong, ignored or declared liers looking at other threads, lol.
Other companies haven't gone out of business yet, so one must assume that people are still buying their bass cabs. It would be a funny old world if we all liked the same thing, one man's meat is another man's poison, there's no accounting for taste, there's nowt as queer as folk and so on and so forth. Some people just plain don't like the appearance of Barefaced cabs, which is fair enough - obviously I think they're great, but I'm shallow enough that I probably wouldn't buy one if I didn't like the look of 'em...
 8.
...i learned from his records its ok to leave space in a record, anticipation is great In music. i always thought the best music is not what you hear., its what you don't hear.
+1. It's often what doesn't get played that counts, so important for good groove and feel. Prince was master of space and time...

 10. http://barefacedbass...er-feedback.htm Edit: Obviously you'll have to try Barefaced for yourself if light weight, power and great sound is what you're after. All I can say is that I've used various BF cabs in various situations and they're always (in my opinion) right on the money. I've played through pretty much every type and brand of amp and cab over the last 40-odd years and I really rate Barefaced. Your mileage may vary of course, they are not for everyone. God alone knows why, but they're not.
 11. Ahh... of course. I'm sure there'll be another opportunity.
 12.

Not sure what this emoticon is, actually - does it mean you've bought the cab now, Karl?? I've seen and heard this one in the flesh, it's very good indeed...
 13.
But that's just the OCD 1, 2, 3, 4 OCD 1, 2, 3, 4 OCD...
...1, 2, 3, 4 OCD.
 14.
...it has nothing to do with the fact that Jaco, James J, Duck Dunn or whoever played them back in the day.
Plus the one... for me it's about the history, mainly. The fact that vintage basses can also be very playable and sound great is just the icing on the cake. But if you want the feel and the vibe there are now other options available if you can't (or don't want to) invest thousands of pounds.
 15.
Why that there be a fair few of us in this wonderful club Mark.
You're right, it IS wonderful. And my Jazz Bass GAS has subsided. Today is a good day.
 16.
Welcome to the club.

Yep, not exactly an exclusive club by any means...
Lozz, what are you implying..?
 17.
Here's what it looks like with a 40 yr old Fender Bassman on top. A very cute half stack IMO.
Either you need to wash that Bassman cloth or dirty up the Barefaced cloth...
 18.
Tweeter shot...
I thought you said you'd fixed that? Edit: This is a truly great cab folks, an excellent one-cab solution. It's also small and light. Edit: Loving the Vanderkley-alike paint job, too!
 19.
"Our lead player's fears that such a small rig might not deliver enough low end were soon allayed when I punched in the deep switch and he pooed himself a little bit."
Ah, the 'brown note'.
 20.
You are going to have to raise the action, or play that E with a lighter touch.
+1. Sounds like your action is too low. Try raising the action of all the strings together, not just the E, until the E-string problem disappears. Then see if you can live with the action at that height. The current trend for a super-low action is balls, imho. I play quite hard too, especially live, and I need to have my action quite high. This has the advantage of eliminating fret buzz, rattle, clanking, choking etc and also lets the strings vibrate properly, so you get vastly improved tone, too. If the action is too high for you at the point where the problem disappears, try lowering it very gradually and backing off a little on your right hand until you reach an acceptable compromise.
