1. I think we can surmise from all this info that a decent 50W all-valve amp is eminently giggable - with the right cab. Does anyone have an Ampeg PF-50T and if so, is it any good? http://www.thomann.de/gb/ampeg_pf_50t_bass_head.htm
 2.
There's a place called Birmingham on every continent AND a crater on the moon..

How can they tell them apart?
The people who live in the West Midlands one have a speech defect.
 3. Someone buy this please! I'm getting gaseous rumblings!
 4. Bought a P neck from Mike, all good, arrived very well packed. Would be happy to deal again.
 5. However is good for you, but a DI recording would be useful.
 6.
What I look for in a band is other people who aren't bell-ends.
+1 However, this one seemingly simple task can be overwhelmingly difficult...
 7. I like the second one, simple but businesslike.
 8. No point buying anything other than OBBM cables. I have bought lots over a number of years and they are all still A1. Best quality components, professional assembly, super-fast delivery, exemplary communications and great value. What more d'you want?? http://bassic-bits.co.uk/
 9. He wasn't at The Ministry Of Sound in 1996, was he? I think he sold me some ecstasy.
 10.
I hope your covert operations are fruitful and that they do not involve violence, bestiality or swearing.
Aww..!
 11.
There is a solution (and it's great with flats...) http://bassdirect.co...e_Lull_M4V.html
Oh God. Though I'd prefer this one... http://bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Mike_Lull_mv4_OW.html Thankfully the neck width is too narrow, so lucky escape there!
 12.
Good advice there, though picking up my Lull generally eases any unjustified GAS
Thanks for that, now I have Lull GAS.
 13.
Starting to get GAS envy over here...
Put your wallet in the safe, walk carefully to the sofa and read a book on an unrelated subject for an hour or two...
 14.
Series / parallel switch too?
Yes, why not..? And an active/passive switch.
 15. I do like the growl and harmonic shenanigans of rounds on a Jazz, or any twin-pickup bass really, but the best live sound I ever got was with an active Jazz and Fender 9050ML flats. My current Jazz GAS involves a Jazz body, a P neck and La Bella 760FS flats. And possibly a good Pre of some sort.
 16.
Shell Pink Jazz with a Maple neck...
Olympic white Jazz, mint guard, maple P neck...
 17.
I can see what you mean now and you're absolutely right. I'm sorry I ever questioned you, what was I thinking? If you PM me your address I'll send you £1000 in used tenners by registered post as a token of goodwill. And please send me an autographed 8X10 photo of yourself, I'm a big fan! If there's ever anything else I can do for you, just ask. Drugs, money, girls, anything - just ask - and remember, I love you.
I edited your post for amusement, too.
 18. Lovely feel. He makes every note count too, regardless of how fast he's playing. Much like Jamerson in that respect.
 19.
With pa help yes, on its own I would be very sceptical, maybe with a large cab and small or quieter gigs. I'm still not believing the b15 vs markbass results it's one of those things I need to see and hear.
There's only one way to find out, really. The loudest amp I've owned was a 100W all-valve, and it wasn't ever possible to have that running at full whack - it was just stupid loud and that was in a loud rock band with a shed-building drummer. It was also the best-sounding amp I've ever owned too, incidentally. So you'd think a good 50W all-valve would be more than sufficient. The big pain of gigging is mostly (imho) due to the size and weight of your cab(s) - amps aren't quite so critical, unless you're hauling an Ampeg SVT-CL or similar, which run to 35kg and will burst your scrotum if you're over 50. Remember my current band are not rock and not loud - I can't get my Rumble 500 Combo quiet enough (running at 350W max without an extension cab).
 20.
...we do not practice tax evasion.
I don't practise it any more either, I've got it down pat. Har, har, har. *Gets coat and so on*
 21. I'm wondering if the new Ampeg 50W valve amp would be giggable. With a lightweight cab, obviously.
 22.
It's Mr Anthony!
Er, that's what I meant.
