2.
I'm about to enjoy a Big Baby's bottom.
SOMEBODY RING SOCIAL SERVICES, QUICK!! AND FETCH A POLICEMAN!! You're welcome.
 3.
A big increase in heft and bottom.

Who'd a thunk it?!?!?
If there's one thing everyone on this forum likes above all else, it's a big bottom.
 4. Is that a mint guard..? Where in London are you? PM me if you don't want to make this public.
 5. Assume your goods are going to be dropped from head height, thrown around in a truck and stood on by an 18st courier wearing size 13 boots, then pack them accordingly. This is expensive and time-consuming, particularly with cabs, and you need to factor this into the cost. Adding tape and stickers bearing the legends 'Fragile' and 'This way up' and so on is just asking for trouble as items marked in this way are singled out for 'special treatment'. Couriers absolutely loathe and detest their jobs (which is hardly surprising) and grow to loathe and detest people who send stuff AND the people they have to deliver stuff to. It's wrong of course, but that's how it is.
 6.
Woohoo to all of the above!
Woo indeed - and as you say, hoo.
 7.
Bastard dream bass bastard 8 grand bastard. http://andybaxterbass.com/details.php?id=1014
Yes, I saw that too...
 8.
Is anyone else here really glad that YouTube didn't exist when you were young?
Yes! It always spooks me when a video of a gig is up on YouTube before I've even got home from the very same gig!
 9. Wobble gigging with Barefaced? Yes, with mysterious 4x10s it would seem..? Wheels in motion re my first One10!
 10.
Have you posted pics of that one M?
Yes, but just in case there's anyone who hasn't seen them... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/275912-nbd-limelight-dakota-red-precision-bass-1963-audio/
 11.
...headless so unlikely to whack the singer on the back of the head...
That would be a disadvantage for me.
 12. My Limelight P looks best and I prefer it for gigging. That's what I bought it for.
 13.
However, the first comment was "I bet it is dead expensive" Doesn't have to be exact, just a rough idea!
No-one has yet mentioned cost or how it's being funded. There's a link to the site in the OP so you could phone or send them a mail? Meanwhile I'm rehearsing tonight so I'll ask the question and get back to you.
 14. It's a looker all right. Enjoy. Let us know how you got on after you've played it in anger.
 15.
What astounds me is that they felt it was good enough to put up on YouTube.
Well... meth is one hell of a drug.
 16.
I didn't really mean to be offensive.
No offense taken, at least not by me. I'm just super-careful because I once made some pretty disparaging comments about someone's bass playing on YouTube and it turned out they were a member on here. Not good. So once bitten, and all that...
 17.
Judging by the Bassists in those YouTube videos, neither did they. They are just twatting the thing.
I couldn't possibly make any comments about that!!
 18.
The authentic 50s attitude would probably be to grumble about the Fender bass but end up using one anyway 'cos it's easier to gig with and you can actually hear it!
Yes, or throw it across the floor like Bill Black because I found it difficult to make the transition...
 19.
Around, yes, but frowned upon.
If I've learned one thing from this forum it's that bass players are conservative. It's too bad anyway, I'm not learning the upright bass just for one recording session. Leo gifted us the P Bass specifically so we didn't have to put up with the many disadvantages of the DB and I thank him for it daily.
 20.
I wonder if you'll get dirty looks for bringing one of those newfangled Fender basses, rather than a gut-strung double bass?
Well the P Bass was around in the 50s, so I hope not...
 21. Agree that you are unlikely to get what it cost you to build, even if it happens to be a great bass. Why there should be less value attached to a bass you carefully put together compared with someone in Mexico is a moot point, but there it is. ^^ Also agree with the above that you would make more if it were parted out ^^ - but again if you have multiple sales you have multiple dealings, multiple packings and multiple postings, plus the increased possibility of problems with assholes and so on... Being sensible, I think the best solution would be for you to take it to your next gig and at the end of the encore smash it up on stage and set fire to it. May as well get your money's worth... it would certainly be a night to remember...
 22.
brilliant. That genuinely made me LOL.
Are you even allowed to do Mono on Pro Tools..??
 23.
Thing is discreet, London, well, there's all those famous and up and coming muso's drifting round there. Professionals, possibly with record/production company money behind them. Plus of course Andy's global reputation. Probably his contact's in the states help as well. So, I'm not quite convinced Andy's is the examplar that shows the whole?
I take your point. I know top-end cars are flying out of the showrooms and people are buying up expensive properties in big cities like there's no tomorrow (which there quite possibly isn't). But I'm guessing not many in this parish have just bought a new Roller or a Ferrari and thus would imagine the market for those cars is slow... so I'd say globally the market for vintage instruments is buoyant and the Basschat (or UK) market for vintage instruments, less so. And a NOS 1954 P Bass is a bargain compared with even a mediocre orchestral instrument, so it's all relative I suppose...
