In answer to the OP, I'd say not. Andy Baxter deals pretty much exclusively in vintage instruments and you only have to look at what has sold and the new arrivals on his website to see the market is buoyant. He's at the retail price end of things and charges top dollar. You can see the added value from the point of view of the buyer though - there are a lot of instruments in one location, you know they are going to be original and genuine, described accurately and truthfully and will be properly set-up and ready to go. We don't have a drummer, so that's got to help. But ultimately I'd need something modular that I could add to if I ever get involved in a louder project in future, which is always a possibility.

I'm using a Rumble 500 Combo, which is hardly big or heavy, but it can be unwieldy. It does have the advantage of doubling as a seat if we're particularly up against it space-wise. But generally I'd like something smaller and lighter without sacrificing power and tone.

Trouble is, if you apply an artificial 'room' to live bass and nothing else, it just sounds unnatural. Which may be what you're trying to achieve, in which case go for it. I've spent years trying to get my sound as clean and as dry as possible, which works well in the context of a live band so I wouldn't consider it, but of course your mileage may vary and so on.

And of course budget can have a lot to do with it. Obviously I like BF cabs, but over the years I've also gigged and enjoyed Schroeder, Markbass, Ampeg, Eden, Orange, Gallien-Krueger, Marshall... I'm currently very happy with my Rumble combo (which allegedly has Eminence drivers)... I really like the BFM J12 I built and fitted with a Kappalite 3012HO... I've heard lots of other cab brands I like including Berg, Aguilar, GENZ (RIP)... yes, Ashdown... even Behringer. I don't think I've ever heard a cab I genuinely disliked, apart from a WEM cab I had in the late 70s... which wasn't that great... or maybe I just wasn't that great at playing back then...

I've never encountered an EA cab so would be interested to read a comparison too. I know the Wizzy has love on this forum, though.
