1.
...you'd be more than welcome to pop over the river for an hour and check it out for yourself if you're around...
Thanks very much for the offer, but Sunday is the one day I work on my income streams... this allows me to spend every other hour of the week on BassChat, so you can see my problem...
 2. Tort would be good if it were good tort. Which it mostly isn't, unless you want to spend a bit. White, black and maple is a classic combination and shouldn't be messed with in my opinion... but there are three main options, which are gold anodized, cream and mint. All look great with white and maple. Avoid any kind of primary colour or any kind of pearl guard unless you want to look like you're on your way to the circus. That is all!!
 3.
...I still don't get the whole "sustain" thang.
Me neither, unless you're into underpinning great long power chords or having a particularly long last song note... but generally it seems that the opposite is desirable given the amount of threads about the merits of various foam or rubber mutes, those things like scrunchies that go over the nut end, and on and on. But I've never been in a situation where I've thought, 'damn it, that note just didn't last long enough.' I can always sustain a note for far longer than necessary. And that with a typical Bent Bit Of Tin bridge. So the 'new bridge = sustain' thing is moot. Arf, arf.
 4.
3) you can change the strings a lot more easily.
That's another good reason. Though if you're a fan of flats, it's less important as you only change strings once a decade, if that.
 5.
I can think of one (1) keyboard player I've worked with that didn't overdo it with the left hand. Come to think of it, that works euphemistically too!
Maybe that's why most keys players seem to be deaf...
 6. Mine had a Tone Pump in it for sure, but of course that could have been fitted by the previous owner. I've not used an Aguilar OPB1 but given Aguilar's reputation I don't think it's going to compromise your sale in any way!
 7. Been doing a bit of reading about these, very interesting... though to be honest I too am not 100% convinced about the headstock. Though I'm sure that would improve with use...
 8.
You forgot to attach large rocks to the aforementioned target! We'd a keys player for a while who was so busy with right and left hand that it was truly disturbing. No amount of polite coaxing, and we tried all manner of helpful suggestions, could alter him from his zealous hand spasms. Sacked him.
I meant quicksand..! I have a real problem with keys players and have had for decades. I know there are good ones out there, it's just that for whatever reason I've never managed to work with any of 'em. In my experience it's best to not go through all the stress and grief and avoid them completely. I won't join a band with keys, regardless of how good they otherwise are, it's just not worth it.
 9.
...keyboard players can be cured by chopping off the fingers of their the left hand
That's seems overly cruel to me... surely it would be kindest to suffocate them with a carrier bag then fling them into a swamp?
 10.
Only way to stop a sax is a punch in the belly to wind them, and that`s not exactly the right thing to do.
You're right there Lozz, no need for gratuitous violence on stage. Much better wait until after the gig - then grind them into a smooth paste, pour it into the saxophone and have a steamroller drive over it. Then 'frisby' it into the sea.
 11.
Yeah, but did you get the gig?
No, I told them they should keep the other bloke, he's brilliant.
 12.
I suppose I could do a tracing.
That's the way to do it I think. Before now I've traced a guard onto a bit of card, folded it up and stuck it in the post. Worked fine.
 13.
I know a fiddle player in Cornwall if you're stuck
Christ, it's not him, is it?? I've been asked if I'd like to replace myself before now.
 14. If it's the genuine article it's in very good condition, thus possibly worth it.
 15.
Well, since the general consensus is theres no real point I could spend the money on something more sensible. Thanks for all the input.
Wise decision. Once again I'd recommend blue Loctite for wayward saddle screws. Not as strong as the red stuff, it'll hold your screws firm but it's easy to break the grip with a normal driver or hex key when necessary.
 16. Just noticed he's old enough to know better, too! You almost expect this kind of behaviour from those with less maturity and experience... but if Matey hasn't got his head together by now, it's hard to believe he ever will. Having said that, it's never too late if you're motivated, prepared to listen to good advice and have the loving support of friends and family... look at me!
 17.
Here you go, my Magnum III:
Ooh, yeah. Thanks.
 18.
Can you come have a word with my lot?
Yes, but they won't be able to hear me.
 19.
...if your guitarist is drowning out drummers then the combo on its own might be asking a bit much and you may need an ext cab.
I'd be having a word with the geetars I think. If you need an ext cab with a Rumble 500 for volume reasons I'd say everything is too loud.
 20.
42kg
Oof. I'm sure that was relatively light back in the day, but my Rumble 500 is 16kg...
 21.
...people can and do pay silly money for a box with a handle.
Hence the success of Louis Vuitton. Arf, arf.
 22.
What a tool. His home country may explain a lot of the drinking problems though...
Scotland or Finland..?
 23.
If you go to Italy , and he messes that up, that could be your one big chance gone.
Speaking as an ex-alcoholic and in another life a really quite terrible person, I know that a trip abroad will be seen by your fiddler as a fantastic excuse to go on a days-long bender. Away from the UK and away from any kind of restraint he will go for it, big time. I would seriously advise leaving him at home, regardless of how inconvenient it may be. You'll get a much better outcome in the long run. If you don't sack him now, you'll sack him after the Italy debacle. I'd sack him now and do yourself and everyone else a favour.
 24.

Wow, that looks like a chunky little fecker! What does it weigh?
 25.
Yes, quite possibly the worst swear word. Yep that one!
Surely not?? You don't mean... (whisper it)... 'Belgium??' I do apologise, the profanity filter seems to be out of action...
