1.
Oh, fair enough. Never dealt with him myself.
Just for balance, I bought a Jazz guard from Spitfire and was very pleased with it. You won't get better tort anywhere, unless you buy genuine vintage.
 2. I have GAS for a Jazz with a Precision neck... among other things. Nice-looking bass.
 3.
I'd put Leland Sklar in the 'versatile' bracket. One minute James Taylor, the next Billy Cobham.
4. So now you have the information, are you going to give it back?? Very nice bass, my first ever bass was an SG. Enjoy...
 5.
I'm with young master Discreet about the white scratchplate, quite fancy one on my modded PB-50
I finally bowed to pressure from the offspring and painted the guard white. Technically it's 'Royal Ivory', but I think 'white' covers it. I know more people expressed a preference for gold, but I have to live with the great moaning git, so here it is. I think it's not half bad actually... to be more 'authentic' it would need to be a two-tone burst, not a three-tone. And have a two-saddle through-body bridge. And the horn shape is too pointed... and on and on. But I'm hoping it's going to be enough to stem the 50s P-GAS I've been suffering from. Here's the previous gold version, for an easy comparison: I think they both have their merits. Also it was cloudy today, so the white guard pic is a much more accurate real-world colour representation. The pics in full sunlight are very lush - but in reality the bass just isn't that bright.

 8. Hey Nate, welcome to the forum. The one thing that helped me most when learning was joining a band. You get up to speed really quick when you have to and you play up to the level of everyone else in the band. I appreciate it may be difficult to join a band that only plays when everyone else has gone to bed... but I'm sure it can be done.
 9.
Same here..... YOB to within 2 days....very, very tempting
The '5' isn't the day of the month, it's a product code... 5 = Precision Bass, 6 = Bass VI and 7 = Jazz Bass.
 10. Very nice. I'd refin it blonde. But then I can't afford it, so I won't!
 11.
Ah well spotted - I hadn't noticed it was an old thread that had been bumped
We should castigate the bumper. Anyway it's still true - slab bodies are bloody uncomfortable. Which is a shame as I have GAS for a 51-style P.
 12.
I find the same with my EBMM SUBs and Stingray...
Stop quoting posts I made two years ago! I don't even have a Jazz Bass now!
 13.
Yes - hit 'em for six!
Ha, ha!
 14.
If there's a 'moshing community', I for one would like to see some footage of their AGM... tea and buns everywhere...
And presumably Doris from St John's Ambulance in attendance.
 15.
It is.
Ew.
 16. UPDATE: Ahem... Long story short, I used an existing FL Studio file for the HB demo to save time and didn't notice there was an EQ plugin on the bass channel... which I have now removed. Here's the updated audio file for anyone who's interested... https://www.mediafir...uo7r65oi7ysll7e I've made it a .wav file as SoundCloud compresses everything to a 128kbps .mp3 file... I think you'd have to agree it's a lot smoother and less 'grainy'. It could even be less 'woolly', who knows..? Point is, the Wilkinson pickup is perfectly adequate in my opinion, so if you were thinking about buying a HB PB-50 you shouldn't have to factor in the cost of an upgrade pickup. In theory you don't need to spend any money on it at all if roundwounds are your thing. Just a little time setting up and a bit of a fettle if you're that way inclined... bargain!
