1.
Did she bot take credit for Jamerson's work on something as well?
Not deliberately, I think. She did play on an awful lot of hit songs over a very short period of time.
 2. http://www.ebay.ie/itm/2-MB-5V-5-Volt-Smartmedia-Memory-Card-boss-sp-202-Mc-505-Roland-smart-media-/321998354744?hash=item4af898f938:g:xqMAAOSwX~dWs129 NOT CHEAP!!
 3.
Since they were (afaik) first intended for camera memory I'd take a punt at a few camera shops that do s/h cameras. The mainstream ones would have stopped restocking once they were phased out. Does it have to be 5.5?
I think it does... as far as I can make out, 5.5 = 5 volts... so I imagine the voltage is going to be critical. I don't think the SP202 is going to work with a 3.3 volt card.
 4. I think it's important to get the right voltage... Is there a manual with it or anything?
 5. I'm not familiar with the item... Is it something like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/SmartMedia-Memory-Cards-for-Cameras/18871/bn_70612/i.html I see you can get adaptors, so maybe that's an option.
 6.
I should have put a fourth option of "Solid gold reclaimed by melting down Kanye West's solid gold toilets".
I'd play a bass made from melted down Kanye West regardless of what it looked like.
 7.
I voted "look down in horror. Put it down on the floor and walk out" for all three...
Obviously none of the options are anywhere near expensive enough...
 8.
I hadn't had a bass for ten years until I signed up here...
Thirty-six years for me... what a sheltered life I led.
 9.
I'm wondering if there's a "this far no further" point for people and what it is.
No natural finishes, no weird body or headstock shapes, no more than four strings, no crap modern tort, no tort with anything other than shades of white, gold or fiesta red... I think that's enough to be going on with...
 10.
I respect what she has done but she grates on me.

She has very specific ideas on how things should be done that won't fit right with everyone.
+1
 11. I suppose it's really about which type of bass you prefer... I doubt I'd buy a singlecut or a sparkly 80s bass even if they played perfectly and sounded great. Luckily there are enough P basses in the world that look great (in my opinion) that also play well and sound perfect, but of course I'm biased towards Fender-type basses. If I played a P bass that was a dog, I wouldn't buy it regardless of how good it looked.
 12.
Depends who's playing it
Obviously one needs to be a great, great player. It not just about great gear.
 13.
I like my gear.
But does it sound great? If so, great!
 14.
Yes but don't forget the importance of your gear sounding great.
I think one's gear sounding great is pretty much a necessity, hence the great gear. Everyone's gear should sound great. Does your gear sound great? I may start a thread, 'Does Your Gear Sound Great?' I think it would be great.
 15. No excuses here - a USA P Bass, sounds great, bought new and 40 years old this year - A Limelight P Bass, sounds great and I wanted a back up - and a Hayman 4040 because it's rare and unusual, sounds great and was refinned and refurbished to a high level. And a Fender Rumble. Which sounds great. Did I say it all sounds great?
 16. We've seen this a few times, but it's always good for a laugh. Make him an offer! I reckon he'd let it go for half that.
 17. Halcyon days for bass players in their twenties, it would seem...
 18.
I blame Basschat
Absolutely. I didn't start spending serious wedge on bass gear until after I'd joined this forum. Not for a while - I watched people's GAS attacks with a sort of amused detachment, obviously this could never happen to me. Until it happened to me. It's serious!!
 19. Ohh... If only my guts would allow me to gig such an amp...
 20.
Who was the famous bassist who when asked about playing a 5-string, said something along the lines of 'you shouldn't play a 5-string until you've mastered a 4-string' how long does that take? 'About 30 years'. Just wondering how old you'd have to be to play this beast.
Billy Sheehan. And I think it was 20 years (yay), but I could be wrong. Edit... my OCD drove me to find the quote, I think it's actually someone's sig on here. Questioner: How come you never play a 5 or 6 stringer Billy? Billy Sheehan: "I dont need one, I have my hipshot for lower notes, and I can go to harmonics for higher notes" Questioner: "do you own any"? Billy Sheehan: " yes I have two or three, though rarely use them outside an ocassional studio set piece" "I dont like to use them unless I really have to, as when a guy takes a 5 or 6 string bass into the studio, you see the engineers and producers, sighing and shaking their heads" (Smiles) Billy Sheehan: " I have nothing whatseover against 5 or 6 string basses. I just belive that guys dont give themselves a proper chance on the 4 stringer first." Questioner: How long is 'a proper chance'? Billy Sheehan: " At least 20 years" (not smiling here, being serious)
