1.
The way I see it, most people would've probably spend more on fags, beer and drugs in the same time I've been [s]playing[/s] buying equipment.
I gave up fags, beer and drugs 14 months ago. Does this mean I can spend more on GAS?? Or is that a drug too?
  2.
Fired. Then shag his missus.
Shag him and get his missus to play guitar. She can't be any worse than he is.
  3.
I gig for a living and I certainly don't feel it's another form of rut. Saturdays and some Fridays are my bigger earning nights doing functions, the rest of my gigs are generally pub/bar work. Like Blue, I love what I do. I may not be a rich man but I'm happy in my work. I approach my gigs with the attitude that I'm going to play to my best ability and put on a good show, like most of the musicians around me. And after all these years I still get excited getting ready to leave the house for a gig. I don't have time for half-arsed performances and attitudes. I do take my work seriously and yes, it's still a job, but it beats doing 40+ hours a week in an office or warehouse. I know this because I've done both. I have the best job in the world and long may it continue.
Great post.
  4. If he really can't hear what he's doing wrong and has a tin ear, there's not much you can do about that and he should go. If he can hear what he's doing wrong but continues to do it anyway because he can't take criticism, there's not much you can do about that and he should go. You can't teach people who don't want to be taught. In my view he doesn't have the ability, the nous, the social skills or the maturity necessary to work well in a proper band. Did I say he should go? If you carry on you'll get more and more frustrated. Better to do something about it sooner rather than later. Easier said than done, I know.
  5.
Looks familiar. Are there a few noughts missing off the price?
You must be thinking of this... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TENNESSEE-15-STRING-EXTENDED-RANGE-BASS-/291674941903?hash=item43e92e69cf:g:bJwAAOxycgVTixwQ
  6.
"I don't do my own adjustments. I take it to the Tech" Get yer hands dirty son. Get to know your bass.
Quite. Truss rod adjustment is not difficult!
  7.
I've been keeping a record of your transactions and can forward the total amount spent to you if you want
Please don't! I'm sure it would depress the crap out of me!
  8.
I refuse to add up the amount of money I've spent/lost on gear over the last fifty years.
For myself it's only the six years I've been on Basschat. The 34 years before that I was perfectly happy with my gear. But I still don't want to know how much I've spent/lost in that time.
  9. Sold Gary a bridge - very fast payment, great comms and a super all-round smooth transaction. Recommended!
  10. Practically impossible to come to any conclusion without the pics.
  11. I too would vote for the Tone Hammer. Very versatile, sounds great and more beans than you'll ever need.
  12. Davie bought some TI Jazz Flats from me. Once again a smooth and problem-free transaction featuring a fast payment and prompt comms!
  13. My views on these vegetable-slicers are well known, so I'm saying nothing.
  14.
We like to keep our audience guessing ...
Our singer likes to keep the band guessing. The stupid bastard.
  15. I used Rotosound RS66 Swing Bass for decades, then struck a batch that were rough and went dead quickly. I switched to Rotosound RB45s and they're pretty much the same as RS66 only smoother, better-sounding (in my opinion), longer-lasting and... you get the picture. At the moment my favourite rounds are DR Sunbeams. You can't go wrong with DR, generally. In my opinion, again.
  16.
I haven't, I know I'd like it. Do you know the website pedalboardplanner.com? Pedaltrain own it, I did a bit of work on the site for them and in return they gave me a PT mini & a Pedaltrain Volto. The volto can't handle the BCP-1.
That's a shame. But I think you owe it to yourself to hear one if you can. Good luck in your quest.
  17. I know you said you don't want the Diamond, but have you actually tried one..? It really is a magic box and you get a super-fat, lush, glossy tone.
  18. Really terrible. They were so young. It's every parent's worst nightmare.
  19. *SOLD* Babicz FCH-4 Bass Bridge I bought this in an effort to address an issue I had with my stock Fender bridge. The Babicz solved the problem completely, but it turns out my OCD won't allow a non-stock, non-period component on my vintage bass - so it's up for grabs. This is a really well-designed and well-made bit of kit and it looks great, almost sculptural in fact. And it's a real doddle to fit and adjust. The idea is that the strings have full contact with the body at all times through a rotating cam system, so there's never any air space below the bridge saddles as there is with a bridge that uses saddle screws to adjust the action. Babicz also claim an increase in sustain and the eradication of unwanted vibration and I can certainly vouch for the latter, if not the former. I don't think long sustain is a particularly desirable trait in an electric bass anyway, but your mileage may vary... In short, this is a very worthwhile upgrade to any Fender bass that uses the five-hole fixing system. Once you've adjusted your action and intonation you can lock up the bridge so it is in effect one piece of solid metal. Technically brilliant and very functional. So if your Bent Bit Of Tin is rattling or buzzing, or your saddles mysteriously adjust themselves, or your hand is being shredded when palm muting, or you just want a bridge that is aesthetically pleasing, then this is for you. Bank transfer preferred, but will accept PayPal as a gift if absolutely necessary. Item will be very well packed and despatched via an appropriate tracked method. I will PM the buyer an ETA and other relevant information. My feedback is here. I thank you!
  20.
Don't know why it's come out sideways, but you get the idea of the stacked Rumbles.....!
Arrrrrghhhhh!! OCD! OCD!! stacked cabinets of different sizes!! *Puff, pant* At least the logos match and are parallel. Phew! I can just imagine how that rig sounds with a Ric - lush, with a great big hefty twang.
