1.
Kanye West discussion on Basschat always makes me laugh.
Ha! It actually makes me furious because I should be thinking about more important things. Jumper or cardi? Jumper or cardi?
 2. Why is Kanye using Twitter to scrounge off the Facebook bloke..? Big diss there straight away. Oh yes, he's a monumental bell-end.
 3.
I've got a hard sp...
Way Huge Pickle..?
 4.
I think it was yesterday.
All my troubles seemed so far away.
 5.
I've a soft spot for Big Muffs.
Me too.
 6. Second gig with the Rumble this evening. It's great to turn up and be ready to play in less than two minutes. I didn't need the master any higher than 9 o'clock. It really is a loud amp. Everyone (including me) could hear what I was doing, I got complimented on my sound, we went down well, and joy! I was packed up and ready to go in less time than it took to set up. Bass and combo in the car and I'm gone.
I played through the 500w combo and it was almost as light as the 100w version (ie you can pick it up with one finger type of light).
It is very light (36lb/16.3kg) considering its size and the kind of tone and volume it's capable of, but I wouldn't want to walk more than about 100 yards carrying it. I can imagine it becoming quite a burden if you had to walk a mile with it. Though why you should ever want to do that, I don't know. The 500 isn't light enough to be convenient for public transport, IMHO. Great in the car though, I can get everything in the boot out of sight of the sticky-fingered public. The 100 might be OK for the bus.
 7.
Maybe that's what's kept me awake the last 4 nights, not jet lag... You'll be pleased to know I've ordered a double wing logo for it
Phew! And a couple of side-trim panels for the cab to make it the same width as the amp?
 8. Second gig with a Rumble 500 Combo tonight, the first one with my own Rumble 500 Combo... a small club in North London. Hopefully it won't be full of Valentine's Day couples arguing... Will post a short review and autopsy tomorrow.
 9. There's one at our rehearsal room - it's a bit weighty compared with a modern combo, but it sounds amazing. Well punchy.
 10. It's one of the long top-horn models. But even so, £600 seems a bit steep to me! Unless they're finally shooting up in price, as has been predicted for about the last 10 years.
 11.
It was you, you git, you broke it
What, a towel-rail for £6.25..? I doubt it.
 12. Used PayPal twice this afternoon with no issues. That's not to say they didn't go tits-up after my purchases, of course. Good luck.
 13.

May I ask where you got the stand? Is it heavy? Does it fold down small? Thanks.
 14. I had the pots replaced in my 76 P as they were knackered. The new ones are CTS solid-shaft and a worthwhile upgrade on the originals, which were plastic shafts. Now it works properly. However, I've kept the originals in case I ever move the bass on, the original pots will go with it. Same deal with the pickup foam, which needed replacing too. I suppose I could have kept the bass 100% original and just looked at it now and then. But now I can still play it, which is what I bought it for in 1976. Of course It wasn't a desirable vintage bass then. The general consensus at the time was that it was a piece of cheap crap that was nowhere near as good as an early 60s Fender.
 15.
Pm.ed
And replied, still available.
 16.
...Probably best not to let a drummer set up without pointing out that the stage is for everyone to use...
So true. When setting up, the buggers will strew their gear over every available flat surface including your standing room, your cab and your amp. When this is pointed out, they just stare blankly at you with their mouths open. Just like when they're playing.
 17. *SOLD* Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flats JF344 043-100 Now surplus to requirements. These TIs are uncut. They've been fitted to a bass, but they've only had about 15 minutes' playing time. In effect they are as-new. £25 posted. Payment via bank transfer if possible, please. Now's your chance to see what all the fuss is about without spending too much. Some places are selling these for nigh-on fifty quid! I thank you!
 18. Guitarists! Not only do they play too loud and too often, but they're socially inept as well!
 19. That's a shame, but if you're not enjoying it there's no point in doing it. I was in a function band doing Stax and Motown covers for a year or two and all the false bonhomie and audience-participation crap finally got to me and I quit. Missed the money, though. Have you thought about doing something that's not pub gigs and not covers? It sounds like it's not bass playing per se that's your problem. And you don't need to leave the forum. There are loads of bass players on here who don't gig. In fact there are quite a few people on here who aren't even bloody bass players, for Christ's sake.
 20.
The other issue with the logos is the cab has the old single wing, I'm actually OCD enough to consider changing it to the double wing to match the amp
You'll have to, no question. I wouldn't get to sleep at night with it as it is.
 21.
Would anyone like to come to this years Midlands Bass Bash and do a mini-masterclass or seminar on their interest or profession? Bass related, as interesting as I find crankcase rebuilds I'm not sure anyone else does.
Aww! I was going to do a little bit about British Glass from 1800-1910. Boo!
 22.
I dare you to try one without falling in love with one again.
I really daren't - I don't want to put undue pressure on my hernia repair.
 23. David bought a phone from me in a very smooth transaction. Fast payment, great comms, all good!
 24.
Great review as ever, it looks the business...

Excellent review as ever discreet...

I really enjoyed reading your review...

Great review, Mark, as usual...
Thanks for the kind comments, folks... I'm definitely a combo-convert now. Just think, a whole new realm of GAS is open to me! Though maybe that's not such a great thing after all... my debit card is in tatters. I have a suspicion that the Rumble 100 would actually be sufficient for my current band, but it's always good to have the extra on tap if necessary... isn't it..?
 25.
4/10. I'm just some sort alloy now. :-(
Brass..?
