1.
You never went to the Treble Clef or the Bass Clef?
I was a regular at the Blue Note Club in Hoxton... I think that was a while back, though...
 2. A sad tale indeed, but for top-quality leads and cables one need look no further than our own obbm of this parish. http://www.rock-wire.uk.com/ All of my many leads and cables are from obbm and over the years I have had NOT ONE single problem with them. Yes, I am doing this. It's happening. PS: Thanks for naming the shop, by the way. Unlikely ever to go there, but definitely not now.
 3.
For solo playing, you can get an almost classical guitar like sound from them.
That is true and they don't thump like La Bellas. And if you're careful and play close to the neck, you can get a fair upright bass sound, too.
 4.
TIs are a good choice for roundwound players who are thinking about dabbling in the world of flats. They have a more articulate tone than most flats, and the lower tension feels more familiar than a lot of flatwound designs.
Yes, they don't necessarily have what I would call a typical 'flat' sound. If you've tried flats (but not TIs obviously) and didn't like them, you may like these... I'd say they're unique - as has been said, they are versatile in that you can use them for lots more than just traditional 'flat' genres such as jazz, blues or Stax/Motown etc. Higher-tension, heavy gauge flats are a bit like suspension bridge cables, but that can be good. I like the feel and tension of La Bellas. And the sound, obviously.
 5.
It's a B100r Rocket Combo. I used to own it. They sound fantastic.
Very interesting, not seen one before.
 6. They sound great (in my opinion) but you need a light touch (or a high action) because they are low tension.
 7. Hi Niki... Cheltenham is my home town, but I doubt if we've ever met as I left 34 years ago...
 8. Well fun has been known to break out among young people.... I remember it distinctly.
 9. Missed all this somehow - what an amazing thread. I'm in.
 10. Ian McShane..? We must acknowledge Sly & Robbie's contribution, too.
 11.
Re routing bits out of a T40, would that make it neck dive?
You just need some lead weights in your strap. Sorted!
 12. Look at the kid in black in the audience on the right at 1:50... he's loving it!
 13. Great to hear of this. Had a roughly similar experience with Spector. It's all good.
 14.
Maybe a compromise would be to ask the seller to pass on your details to the new owner to see if he would be interested in selling?
A much better idea, because offering your details first is more... polite.
 15.
I suspect its neck would be too skinny for discreet, even though it's white.

The neck would be too skinny for discreet, something like my T-20 measuring 44mm would be better.
Sad but true. Peavey make some fantastic basses. But I think the T20s and T40s would be just a bit too heavy for me. Ideally I like sub-9lb basses.
 16.
My two Precisions are surprisingly versatile, but their acceleration and handling is even worse than a Harley!
Ah, it's all about the sound really isn't it?? Precisions AND Harleys, I mean...
 17. Noon! Time for my meds. And get a couple of apple danish in before 'Bargain Hunt'. It's tough for old people in Cameron's Britain.
 18.
I'm strictly a Harley and Fender Precision man.
Me too. It's just that I'm between Harleys at the moment. However I have two Precisions, so it all works out...
 19. Hi Thomas, plenty of pedal-geekery on this forum! Welcome.
 20. John bought a cab from me. Super-fast payment and great comms. He was even tolerant of a breakdown in comms on my part due to a desktop PC meltdown situation... recommended.
 21.
Pictures people! PICTURES!
Yes... forum rule is, 'pics or it didn't happen', i.e. your post is merely fabrication and has no basis in fact without pics.
 22. I can confirm the Super Ferrite pickups are HOT.
 23. But this neck has the Hayman logo hole under the Shergold shield... did the later Hayman necks have adjustment at the headstock end?
 24.
I keep thinking that there's a guy on the Shergold forum who will be going mad with GAS for those Perspex covers as they are very very rare!
They really are - I've never seen them in the flesh and have only seen two pics of a 4040 with them fitted.
 25. http://basschat.co.u...-shergold-neck/ I have one. Apart from the possible nut, truss rod and neck issues with the eBay example, they are great basses. I have had one for a while and it's a fantastic bass. Getting rarer all the time, too...
