1.
I can only assume that the nut was done by Stevie Wonder.
I can only assume it's not original... and there really shouldn't be that truss hole or whatever it is at the headstock end. Mine definitely doesn't have that and definitely doesn't have an iffy nut. Still worth it for the body, electrics and perspex ashtrays alone. Edit: looking again it seems the 'G' string is misplaced and out of its slot... which would explain that. Doesn't explain the mystery hole, though. Mmm, mystery hole... arrrggghhllle.
 2.
Or, presumably, just use speakers with more displacement? ...in the unlikely event I ever needed more volume out of my rig (GK MB500 + 2x Big Baby 2) I'd much prefer to upgrade the amp to an MB800 than to have to carry 4 cabs around instead!
This. It's a major pain to carry multiple cabs around just so you can be too loud. I'd rather invest in a portable combo or one-cab solution that is going to be loud enough and have enough headroom for any situation... though I can't imagine why anyone would need more than one BB2! Apart from the look of the thing, of course...
 3. Very unusual to see one with its perspex ashtrays in place, they are like, er... rocking-horse teeth. Fantastic basses. Very playable and sound amazing.
 4. Yes... Did a gig on Saturday and the supplied bass amp turned out to be a Fender Rumble 500 combo, which I believe runs at around 350 watts without an 8ohm extension cab. Had no expectations about it and was quite surprised to find it was really bloody loud at around 40% on the master. Amazingly hefty sound, too. And lightweight! We need to understand that an amp's wattage rating is really no indication of its perceived 'loudness'.
 5.
I made it through. I sold some non essential gear that I won't miss and kept the beautiful Sandberg bass.
Good move. You would have regretted it, I'm sure.
 6. You'll hear scare stories about pretty much every courier company, but Interparcel have a good rep here. http://www.interparcel.com/
 7. It's a deliberate policy, I believe. It's not possible to reply to or bump posts in Items Wanted.
 8. They are very similar in some ways, principally a revolutionary and groundbreaking style coupled with very early use of Rotosound roundwound strings... the 'big boing'. I thought both were fantastic when I was a kid, less so now, but still enjoy an occasional listen.
 9. Intelligent and underrated imho, even given his great success. 'TV contracts and imagination and radio expands it'. RIP, Tel.
 10. I was in blissful ignorance about these, looks totally amazing!!
 11. Hello and welcome to the forum... again.
 12. I tried the 5-string experiment and it didn't work for me, so I'm back to fours. However... when I was playing a five I found it very difficult to play fours at the same time, so had the experiment been a success I would have kept the five and moved the fours on. Because once I had made the decision to be a five-string player, that would have been it.
 13.
I've still got the WTDI as it happens. The VT1 confused me a bit.
It confused me a bit too, which is why I sold it.
 14. I remember you, John. I sold you a DHA VT1 EQ and a WTDI two or three years ago...
 15.
I am scared of growing old.
When I was younger I hoped fervently that there would be an afterlife. But now the older I get, the more I hope there won't be one.
 16.
Oh Crikey, loved this last time around and up it crops again 2 days after receiving my write off car insurance payment!
It's God's way of telling you to buy it immediately!
 17. No-one needs to listen to Radio 1 all day. Just put twelve crap songs on your iPod and set it to 'shuffle'.
 18.

Sweet - is that a Portaflex combo?
 19.
If I was more mature I'd be in one of the "losing" age groups...
You're the losing age group! Yah, boo! You smell! And no backsies. Thpppp!!!
 20. The result will be skewed anyway - younger members are much more likely to vote because 1) They aren't as bitter or cynical as older members, 2) They have more energy and are less likely to be in the toilet, and 3) Ah, f*** it.
 21.
We may have had a sudden rush of 85 year old bassists joing our ranks.
Yes well, maybe they saw how grumpy everyone was here and flocked to the forum like fatties round a Greggs Steak Bake.
Early days but my age group is winning! woohoo!
That's not very mature, is it??
