1. May we ask why? Isn't it possible to look at last year's poll and add a year onto the results?
 2.
but we did! and filled it with amps!
Ok then... I'm going to need more pics in that case.
 3.
erm... sorry... moving to PM.
Yeah, get a room!
 4.
I do wonder what these basses will look like in 30 years down the road...
I'm a lot more bothered about what I'll look like 30 years down the road - that is if I look like anything at all.
 5. I'm floundering to be honest. All these puns are giving me a haddock. Salmon else have a go.
 6.
I presume jtuk plays at this venue finger style? Maybe on a bass with a birdseye finish?

Now you're just baiting.
I'm sure he could tackle it if he's practised his scales.
 7.
you're not going to fillet with fish puns are you?
I'm afraid the whiting's on the wall.
 8.
I do wonder though (and I'm sure someone here will know) when Fender (for example) release a relic bass, is every instance of that bass the same? Do they have identical wear patterns and dings?
As Fenders are mass-produced I'm fairly sure the relic work will have been machined. To do each one individually by hand would be prohibitively expensive. Custom Shop may be different, I don't know.
 9. In a word, no. That's the attraction for me - it's already comfy like an old pair of slippers and you don't have to worry about it.
 10.
Interestingly, my Tecamp cab is the heaviest out of the assembled cabs tonight, and that only weighs 20kg!
20kg isn't actually THAT heavy... but it's all relative. I have a cab lined up that is 7kg or thereabouts.
 11. Wow, that's a lot of cabbage! Funny how perceptions change... those lightweight rigs look big and heavy to me now. A few short years ago they would not have. I await the write-up with bated trousers. PS: Your rehearsal room looks very posh. Ours looks like a filthy shed at the bottom of the garden. Because it is.
 12. 'It's going to last forever...' Not if it gets too close to the fire, it won't.
 13.
Shhh. I've almost made it.
Not quite, you repulsive disappointment.
 14. It's all well and good, but the real question is this: What Will Take The Place Of Giggling?
 15.
Can I be the first to suggest that a pair of jugs may be a more attractive proposition?
I thought this was going to be another disappointing thread, but it's not. Well done!
 16.
I feel that Jamerson overplays a lot of the time.
Bwa-ha-ha-haaaahhhh!!! You MUST be trolling. You must be.
 17.
As far as gigging becoming less popular... I just don't get what it's based on. Probably posts on basschat, which is far from a representative sample. Loads of the posts here are rants from people in a bad mood, loads more are bitterly sarcastic, so there's no way to get a real sense of the reality of musicians' life in the UK from basschat.
Quite - in fact, there's no way to get a sense of the reality of anything at all from Basschat. I think that's why people come here - to escape from reality, rather than to experience even more of it. It's a comfortable place, usually. You know what most people's opinions are going to be on any given subject and what the best bass is for metal. OK, we don't yet know what the best bass for metal is, but it's surely only a matter of time.
 18. I don't know much about Yamaha basses, but this is a bargain, surely?? http://www.ebay.co.u...-/281920051761?
 19.
...there is still an audience out there for a decent band!
Absolutely, and IMO it's easier to make a living purely from gigging today than it was when there was serious money to be made from selling records and CDs before the mp3 revolution.
 20.
Bump
Bump?? That's not very imaginative is it?? Thhppp!
 21. I'm likely to be gigging a lot more this year than ever before... purely from taking a step sideways from one genre to another. Though I think there will likely always be work for high-end wedding, function and event bands... which are generally covers bands of course. Been there and done that. I don't think it's just a problem with bands, I think it's across all the arts... people of a certain age don't think a performance is 'real' or valid unless it has been photographed, videoed, tagged, tweeted, disseminated and uploaded to YouTube to see if it's really 'popular'. Which is a great shame as this means no-one lives in the present any more. I meet people who insist on showing me their holiday pics and I wonder what the hell did they do apart from taking lots of holiday pics..?
 22. What is your name?? Sorry, bet you've never heard that before. Welcome to the forum.
 23. Both amazing basses, you couldn't go wrong!
 24.
Well, I did say "as far as I know". Gratifying to succeed without even trying though.
