1. Hefty bit of wood in hand, standing up with a strap-on, G-string, big bottom end, slapping, twanging, doing it deeper, fingering A minor. Did I miss anything?
 2.
That's still a yes I'm going to use the cabs via my normal power amplifier as a P.A for certain performances... oh and of course I've got some really sexy TC stereo effects to make use of too
Good Lord, a plausible excuse! Well done.
 3.
I want a second Big Twin II. I really do!
But do you need one??
 4. Bass guitars are just tools, nothing more. They undergo wear when used. But nevertheless they do last a long time... instruments from the early 50s are still doing the rounds. No time at all compared with high-end orchestral instruments of course and I often wonder if electric basses will last for hundreds of years too. No reason why not, really. Also dings and dents can be repaired, electrics replaced, bodies refinished, necks refretted... that was the whole ethos of Leo Fender, he built things so that they could be made cheaply and repaired easily. Could to with a bit more of that kind of thinking in this 'throw it away, it's old' society.
 5.
They actually have three demo cabs (Big Baby 2, Super Midget, One10) that bassists are welcome to borrow for gigs.
That's interesting - I'm intrigued by the One10...
 6.
...would anyone else learn an entire bands set list just in case you were 2nd choice in a few weeks or months?
Probably not, but I'd learn an entire set list if I really wanted to be 1st choice and needed an advantage over the other contenders.
 7. Schroeder 21012L

2 X 10" Neo Drivers
1 X 12" Neo Driver mounted on angled baffle
200W Tweeter with adjustable Attenuator
1 X Speakon and 1 X 6.3mm Jack Inputs
1000W RMS @ 4ohms
49lb (22kg)
23.5 X 23.5 X 16" (60 X 60 X 40 cm)
I can confirm that these cabs are excellent - small, relatively light and the perfect one-cab solution. Will fill any room with bass and likes a LOT of power. Difficult if not impossible to make them fart out, rattle or otherwise misbehave. Think of it as a 24-inch-square Ampeg fridge that you can carry on your own... really superb and a bargain at this price.
 8.
In most cases I'd agree, but it depends on the band. In my band there is no keys, but there are two guitars - but their owners use very clean, clear "jangly" tones and so the bass has a pretty big sonic space. Even with some mid-cut the bass comes through well. It should be used judiciously though, as you say.
Yes, your mileage may vary. I should have said, 'I don't want to be scooping my mids in a live situation'.
 9. They are very useful indeed but should be used with discretion, especially the VPF and especially live. The VLE (Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator) gradually rolls off a wider and wider range of top-end for a more old-skool sound, while the VPF (Variable Pre-Shape Filter) will progressively Boost lows and highs, in effect giving you a mid-scooped sound. Though this makes the amp sound very nice when playing solo or at home, you definitely don't want to be scooping your mids in a live situation as you will not be heard. It's important to note that both controls are only in the 'OFF' position when fully LEFT, and not at 12 o'clock. They are a major selling point of Markbass amps. When I had a Markbass, I set the EQ controls flat and got all the sounds I needed using only the VLE and VPF filters. You can get an amazing combination of tones just by using the filters and nothing else.
 10.
No matter what I tried, obstacles were put in front of me to prevent me from getting there.
Welcome to the club!
 11. I went for an audition last week which turned out to be at a small terraced house in a densely-populated urban area. The rehearsal room was a large shed at the bottom of a short garden. There was some rudimentary soundproofing. The band have been playing there weekly for about a year and have yet to receive a single complaint. I will say it's a country band... might well be a different story were it any flavour of rock band. So you could be OK.
 12.
I'd be imagining all sorts of things outside while I was inside.
Of course you're right to be worried. Ba-oooooww!!
 13. Magnificent work Chris! For some reason I thought you were bald. Oh, well.
 14.
...the vendors comments state "very good" for the entire narrative and also that delivery is free so I may just go for it
Absolutely.... what's £24,000 between friends..? And the fact that a Genuine 1960 stack-knob Jazz would cost, in a retail environment, £18,000 at the very most? I think it would be a shrewd investment on your part.
 15. Wow, these early Jazz basses certainly do look a lot like Precisions. Very interesting.
 16.
Well, I did find a paramoron hiding in my sofa. Does that help?
Not unless you have a corresponding oxydoxy, no.
 17.
Oh, I don't know about that; some of these whiffs are a bit easier to pin on a littl'un.
That's true, but it doesn't quite sit right with me, somehow. I think he might be a wrong 'un.
 18.
Indeed. Let bygones be bygones, I say. Who shall cast the first stone, glass houses and motes an' all.
Quite. We're all friends here, the OP is merely joining a long line of members who blame their children for their own mistakes. Mind you, blaming a toddler is a bit much, isn't it? I usually wait until they're in pre-school, at least.
 19.
Quite, but at least the original foolishness of the OP has now been totally overshadowed and forgotten, given the witty and pointed posts since. No-one now remembers the idiocy that sparked all of this off. Just as well, I say. Best left to sink from BC's collective conscience; that would be sooooooo much of a relief to us all.
Absolutely right and proper. To err is human. Just because the OP had a problem logging in - as he had his cookies switched off for some reason - and then rather egregiously blamed his two-year-old child for the error is neither here nor there, is it? Water under the bridge.
 20.
Lake Placid Blue with binding neck and blocks and a very light relic.

Looking forward to seeing it!
Yes, large and numerous pics ASAP, please!
 21.
...surely the OP can edit the thread title to omit the capitals as I suspect that gives the title some life?

Good idea, however I think it is too far gone, even for that.
IT SURE IS!!
 22.
Here's a clip I did on mine... the vox are buried as the recorder was behind the PA and the band are on IEM's.
A video as well..? That's cheating!
 23. This was recorded in a rehearsal room on a Zoom H1 in '.wav' mode, manual recording levels. The resulting audio file was then imported into FL Studio 11 where I was able to 'stereoize' it a bit, add some subtle FX and master it using PSP VintageWarmer II. Or to put it another way, I messed about with it.
