I believe the Mike Dirnt bass has sold very well. He's the bassist from Green Day btw
Yes, we know... ...but it's a good-looking bass. A 50s-style P but with a split pickup is always popular. The roadworn is good by all accounts, but I haven't played one.
Logic says, it probably was.
Stop it with the logic already!

It's a great book, by the way. Lots and lots of colour plates, it's very bad for your GAS. And check the picture of JE's home bar. I have been served drinks at that very bar by the man himself. Seems like a long time ago now.

I suppose if endorsements didn't sell gear then manufacturers wouldn't bother producing them. A friend of the current mrs discreet's teenage daughter asked me to recommend a bass for her to begin playing on, I recommended a Squier VM. The girl demanded (and got) a sparkly silver Mikey Way signature, so there you go.
Dave /OBBM. . . . every time. http://bassic-bits.co.uk/
I always post in these 'which cable?' threads because Dave's leads and cables are second to none for quality and value and Dave's service is exemplary. That is all.

Well I've got huge GAS for an Ibanez MC924 since seeing and hearing D. Swift play one. But as it's out of production that's probably of limited value to Ibanez... McCartney and Hofner was the association that came to mind instantly. But by his own admission Macca only got his because he was a tight-ass and could use the Hof left or right handed - he didn't want to go to the expense of buying a leftie - and indeed didn't own one until Rickenbacker gifted him one in 1965. Though personally I wouldn't buy a bass purely because a bass player I rated used one, particularly if it was a known 'signature' endorsement.
I got it as a gift, maybe I should hang on to it.
Me too, and I am.
Hmmm 196 ? Atomic mass of gold ? Last digits of service number ? Elephant & Castle bus route ? Tone Hammer or Fusion, it's a win-win.

Hard to believe, very shocked. He single-handedly wrote the soundtrack to the youth of generations. Unique, innovative, iconic and an incredible talent. Will be very much missed.
Was just thinking how amps are getting higher powered. And there were days when 100 or so watts or even smaller was used for gigging. With I imagine varying degrees of success however they must of worked?
A 100-watt all-valve bass amp is bloody loud. Easily enough to gig with and at least as loud as a 500W SS amp, in my opinion. A 300W Ampeg SVT sounds great, but it's generally overkill unless you're doing big rooms without a PA. But why would you? And a 30W Vox AC30 for guitar will easily fill a big venue.

Good Bridges not Hipshot. Badass or Babicz
discreet replied to Chienmortbb's topic in Accessories and Misc
Taking them on and off a couple of times with a standard bridge makes a mess of the silks...
That much is true. Unless you're very careful, in which case it does take longer. OK, then. -

*SOLD* La Bella 760FS Deep Talkin' 45-105 Flatwounds Had them on my Precision for a while, now using Thomastik-Infeld 043-100 Flats. These La Bellas are well-played and the silks are a little tatty, but they are uncut - I use the full length of the string around the tuner post. £15 Posted via bank transfer, please. See if you like La Bella flats without risking nearly forty quid to find out! PS: They will be posted in a Thomastik packet, but they are definitely La Bellas!

Good Bridges not Hipshot. Badass or Babicz
I would go for that but this bass will be a test bed, with new pickups etc being tried. That is the reason I was looking for quick restringing.
Not trying to be funny, but are you really going to save that much time? I don't find threading the strings through a hole in the bridge particularly time-consuming when stringing a bass, it's the winding the strings on to the tuner posts, fettling the saddles and getting the bass in tune! Or have I missed something again? -
Not all g&l' are active, the l1000 and sb1 and sb2's are passive but have very powerful pickups.
They do, I had an 83 SB-2 which was amazing. Sold it, miss it. Damn it!
The irony of me prodding a joke at this whilst I'm actually training to become a dentist. It'll be the icing on the cake if I ended up buying one of these, eh?
HEAVY IRONY.

You have to keep it anyway now it's got one of your famous thumb-rests fitted.
Viewed this post expecting to hate it.... and I love it.
Actually the more I look at it the more I'm attracted to it. Just like the current mrs discreet on that fateful morning in Penge! Just what I don't need, Fodera GAS. But of course, if this means I'm turning into a dentist, doctor, solicitor or CEO then I'll be golden...
Everyone's opinions can vary.
Mine don't.
I weigh up all comments against my experience and the positive easily outweighs any negativity. That says it all for me.
Yes... it's one thing to read about gear on teh interwebs (and make a decision about it based on that) and quite another to use it regularly in a recording/rehearsing/gigging situation with a band - and in various different rooms and circumstances.
