4 Question You Would Ask A New Prospective Band
...I don't actually know what a quid is...
A 'quid' is UK slang for a pound = one GBP (Brirtish Pound Sterling), currently equal to one US dollar and forty-eight cents according to the exchange rate at 21:33 on Tuesday, 22nd December 2015. -
Mine was around 9.5lbs, not overly heavy but too heavy for me. Now the Shergold I had was light as a feather - 7.5lbs
Just weighed mine, it's 9.3lbs - heavier than I thought! My Marathon was 8lbs dead, but felt much lighter.

Not wishing to be negative or cast nasturtiums on your creative abilities, but I think it would probably save you a world of time and grief if you bought a used case and relined it to your specifications.

Season's greetings to all... My second booze-free Christmas. Well... I may have a glass of wine with my lunch, but that's it!

4 Question You Would Ask A New Prospective Band
We have (often) 1 finger electronic sounding keys in a register closer to the guitar....often keys are relegated to padded chords. It is possible to have keys in a band and still have space to play,
Nice, but I've found it impossible to find a keys player who is content with playing with one finger, or to being relegated in any way. Thus far they seem to have been rampant megalomaniacs who imagine the band is at their disposal and all choice of music, arrangements, etc are their sole responsibility. Obviously I've been very unlucky. -
First time I've seen the whole thing....it's scrumptious!
Thank you sir, have a few more pics...
A few things, really - always either a bit or a lot too heavy, neck is too wide, 34" scale length - I am enjoying 32" at the moment (ooh matron etc). And I seem to be leaning more and more to single pickup basses. But they look so damned pretty...
Certainly unique! Historically they're always referred to as heavy basses, but mine isn't... they're made from obeche wood, which is light. So I'm not too sure where the Hayman 'heavy' rep comes from. Unless I have the only light one, which seems unlikely. The necks aren't wide if you're used to a P Bass, but I'm fairly sure J Bass players would struggle a bit. I like a nice thick bit of wood in my hand, personally.
I play with a pianist who was originally a bassist - so thought is given to how his left hand and myself work together. Sometimes unison lines, sometimes harmonised, sometimes no left hand bass on the piano at all.
No left hand bass on the piano at all is the one way I could work with keys. Your player is as rare beast. -
Seems nearly impossible to come up with an original song name
...even though it's shorter than Hey Jude! Albums titles have different rules, e.g. My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now They're Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows
Back in the day I was in a techno/ambient outfit and we released a track called Self Realisation in the Art of Sensual Love which in hindsight was a bit ambitious really. On all sorts of levels. -
Well we do put noise and strobe warnings on the doors, we are described as a stadium band in a pub as we take a big show out, lights stage, lasers, etc, maybe to loud for some but we can't turn the drummer down As for do I need 1k, that's the recommended power for the cab
Well each to his own, it would be a dull world, one man's meat, nowt as queer as folk, etc. etc. When you say 'recommended power for the cab' do you mean the cab is rated at 1000W RMS? That doesn't necessarily mean you absolutely have to use an amp that is rated at that figure. But I digress... good luck getting your 7pro fixed, let's hope Polar come up with the goods.
That's a bit long for song title, don't you think?
Yeah, but they said 'Bohemian Rhapsody' was too long to be a single. -
2 full Marshall stacks and the drummer from hell lol, trust me you need it, we need a screen for the drummer
Very good, but you're all playing WAY too loud. IMHO, YMMV, etc etc etc... probably for another thread (Do you really NEED a 1Kw amp?) I hope you (and your audience) are using proper ear protection.
So my top 10 tips for worship bassists are:

Listen to the leader and follow their lead [sounds so obvious but ...]
You are serving the Lord and the congregation first - always remember this
Keep it 90% straight and simple. There's no harm in a little embellishment and runs etc but DO NOT OVERPLAY
Take great care over your dynamics - verses medium volume, chorus up a bit etc.
Listen, listen and then listen again
Learn when to stop playing. It sounds brilliant when the bass cuts out for a section then comes back in on the chorus etc.
You will play with musicians with a wide range of ability, learn to be gracious and encouraging with those less able.
Find a good drummer and KEEP him/her close. You will never sound good with a bad drummer!
Some vocalists and keyboard players will slow down at the end of a phrase. This needs to be handled with tact.
Enjoy yourself and smile. There is nothing worse than looking at the band and everyone is sad or bored.

I think numbers 3. to 10. would be valid for non-worship bass players, too... OK, maybe not 7.
My first 'proper' bass was a Hayman 4040 and it was probably my first real love - but I know I don't get on with them.
Ooh, why not? Just out of interest.
That looks terrific! Must not GAS, must not GAS. Resist!
Thanks, but don't worry... they don't come up for sale too often.
So you like Aguilar... I looked those but the tonehammer only does 500w, they recommend 1000w for my cab

ONLY 500w..?
Unless you're regularly playing festivals or stadia without PA support (which would never be the case) I find it hard to imagine a situation in which you'd need more than a 500W bass amp. I've used 500W in seriously loud rock bands (with a 1000W RMS cab) and never had the master up further than 12 o'clock. In any case the Tonehammers are subjectively very loud amps. More importantly, they don't fail on a regular basis.

4 Question You Would Ask A New Prospective Band
discreet replied to blue's topic in General Discussion
...Maybe this is more easily covered by the question, "do you have a keys player?" "Yes." "No, thanks then. Bye"
This is the one question I always ask. I'm sure there must be really good keys players out there, but in forty years I've not had the good fortune ever to meet one of them. -
Maybe decide on a short list of amps, then Google them to see if there have been many problems. The 7pro has a vast plain of negative feedback online sadly, whereas other amps have little or none. *Cough* Aguilar! *cough*

4 Question You Would Ask A New Prospective Band
discreet replied to blue's topic in General Discussion
I think 'Mission' is a bit grandiose. Maybe something like, 'Are you likely to stay together long enough to see a modicum of success?' may be more realistic. I think using business-speak and treating the whole thing as if it's a job interview (even though it may actually be a job) is probably counter-productive... most musicians I know regardless of genre, pro ability or whatever, tend to be a bit nuts in one way or another. I'd want to know how many gigs I'd be doing and how much I'd be paid, for sure.
