1. ...instead of his six-string Shergold Marathon bass.
 2.
You could just buy a P neck & put it on your jazz - I'm thinking of doing this at the moment because when I flick back to the jazz from my (chunky-necked) Warwick it's just too thin for comfort.
I feel the same... I love the look and sound of Jazz basses but just don't get on with the necks. I think some kind of bitsa may be in the offing.
 3.
If you can track one down, the Aria STB-JB is just such a thing.
https://www.righttrackmusicshop.co.uk/aria-stb-jb-bass-guitar.html
 4. The Mark Hoppus bass is a Jazz body with a P neck... however it's got a P pickup too, so...
 5.
of course you'd catch that one!!!

I have a pair I can bring along if interested.
It's the gift that keeps on giving!
 6.
I was wondering whether there's anybody reasonably near Edinburgh who has a pair and would be interested in getting together...
I apologise in advance, but just couldn't resist.
 7.
...a reminder that we're all just sat on a big rock hurtling through space...
Actually it's more like an infinitesimal speck of dust, but I take your point. Great pic. I may actually have a go at this.
 8. Bought a set of Prosteels from Lozz (where IS he getting all these strings from??) and it was the usual super-quick delivery, excellent comms and the kind of deal we've come to expect from one of BassChat's finest. Thanks, mate!
 9.
i just got hold of a 60's fender bridge with the grooved saddles, I think I'll install it on this bass, it's gonna look even more authentic.
Er... if you mean the threaded saddle type, then it won't - 70s Ps had single groove saddles. Interesting-looking bass, though.
 10.
Plus, it's always good to network with other bassists
You'd think so, wouldn't you?? Welcome to the forum.
 11. Yes, I changed my mind again - GAS is a fickle mistress! Here are a few more pics - phone pics I'm afraid, but hey.
 12. SOLD: Schroeder 21012L 1000W @ 4ohms

2 X 10" Neo Drivers
1 X 12" Neo Driver mounted on angled baffle
200W Tweeter/Horn with adjustable Attenuator
1 X Speakon and 1 X 6.3mm Jack Inputs
1000W RMS @ 4ohms
35Hz -18kHz
49lb (22kg)
23.5 X 23.5 X 16" (60 X 60 X 40 cm)
One of Jorg Schroeder's earlier 21012Ls. If you're reading this you probably already know what you're looking at. The cab is in excellent working condition and very good cosmetic order. It's loaded with two front-facing 10" neo drivers, one 12" neo driver on an angled baffle and has a 200W horn with adjustable attenuator. It's small and light and handles 1000W @ 4ohms - in my opinion it is the ultimate one-cab solution. It will take a LOT of power and you WILL be heard. With the right amp this cab will fill ANY sized room with bass. Comes with fitted pro castors and a padded Roqsolid cover. Easily fits in the boot or back seat of your car. The 21012L doesn't have the infamous Schroeder low-mid hump like some of Jorg's smaller cabs, and is capable of producing genuinely huge pillow-like low-end heft if required. It is quite conventional and even in its delivery - it has the ability to transmit the sound of your bass in a very musical way - this is not a hi-fi cab; it is not a transparent cab, and it will colour your sound - but If you happen to like that sound - and a lot of people do - there is nothing to touch it. Selling as I've acquired a Schroeder 1212L, a smaller, lighter 800W 4ohm cab more suited to my needs. The two cabs together provide 1800W RMS of cabbage, but I can't think of a situation where I'd need to use them together. Collection from Forest Hill/Sydenham close to the A205 South Circular in SE London, or I may be persuaded to pack it for posting if you organise and pay for your own courier. I thank you!
 13.
I got my second royalty cheque for the book this week. My 7 year effort has so far earned me about £350!
Well done sir, you have earned more than I have over the last 7 years.
 14.

Stagg Dynamite Hot Chiili for the win!!
 15.
Have you been squinting and taking some drugs?
I usually take the drugs first and THEN squint, but essentially yes.
 16. Wow. Having heard a G3 Compact recently I can have a good guess at how that rig must sound. However, my OCD wouldn't allow two different cab widths in my rig!
 17.
The Sire V7 gets great reviews on here and is around £300 new from Thomann. That's what I'd be looking at.
Good suggestion... I'd forgotten about these even though I had one and reviewed it. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/258828-nbd-sire-marcus-miller-v7-alder-4-awh-audio
 18.
I suppose my ideal would be a very tired US Jazz, sunburst, with block inlays for £300 but I am well aware that this can't be done!
How about a Squier VM Jazz..? http://www.thomann.d...d_jazz_3csb.htm Or maybe this one if you really want the blocks... 19. Sold an amp to Paul, super-quick payment and excellent comms. No problems whatsoever - Paul is one of the good ones and I would recommend him with no hesitation. He's got a Skoda Yeti, so that says it all really.
 20.
Aren't some Goodfellow (GB) basses vaguely based on a tidy bum shape at the, er, bottom end?
Fundamentally.
 21.
Vintage in particular look like they've actually had a musician somewhere near the design process....
+1 The Vintage P bass is very playable and sounds good regardless of price.
