Which one is louder: Tecamp 500 or Aguilar Th500?
discreet replied to Radchenko's topic in Amps and Cabs
... I have been told on very good authority that the class D unit in the TH500 is rated as 800W by other manufacturers but only as 500W by Aguilar, because they want to give a more realistic RMS rating.
That would explain a lot... does this mean the TH350 is actually a 500W+ amp? If so, it represents something of a bargain... -
The rest of the bass looks OK to me from what I can see of it. If the tuners become an issue I'm sure there are ways round it.
Here's a better pic. I think the bass is fine, however, I just don't think the tuners are original, that's all.
I'm not sure! If you could inspect the bass it would be handy - and if they're really not original, negotiate a price-drop. As far as I know around this time Fender started using Schallers as alternatives for the P Bass which are a bit shorter and don't have the taper to the shaft like the ones in my pic, so it could be those. The Schallers also have a different backplate shape. They are OEM, though.
...what you've posted is exactly what I would expect on a 70s P bass. The bass in the advert, however, has shorter (and chromed) tuners like I'd expect on a later model.
Have you seen this bass in the flesh, then? I wouldn't like to comment further about the tuners without seeing better pics.
Something I also overlooked was on his advert he described it as new condition. Surprisingly or not so supringly the seller hasn't responded to either my requests nor that of PayPal, 3 days so far.
It clearly isn't new, whether genuine or not and as the seller's gone quiet you've done the right thing. The bass is obviously not as described so I don't think you'll have much trouble getting a refund from PayPal.

From what I can see they are correct. 70s P Basses don't have the very long 'Kluson'-type tuners. This is my 76P headstock, it's totally original.

http://www.instructa...ma-blood-pocke/ And no, I don't.
Had this happen after I hit my thumb with a hammer, it swelled up like a golf ball. Throbbed like buggery. Went to A&E and they drained it by making a hole in my thumbnail with a thing like an Allen key, heated red hot in a flame. No anaesthetic. Cue smoke and lovely smell of burning nail. It worked, though. I'm much more careful with tools now.

Which one is louder: Tecamp 500 or Aguilar Th500?
Thank you. But Epifani Ul112 is 300 watts 8 ohms.
It's not as if you're going to be running any of these amps at maximum volume. It's a case of trying them and deciding which is best for you. -

G-K MB500 - 350 watts 8 ohms. -
It's the 'more or less' bit that surprises me...
It's hard to tell with all those fills and flamming going on...

Lovely CAR. I'd fit a cream pg, but that's just me... nice bass.

Yes, I can just about hear the track in the background. If the intention wasn't to show off the drumming (which it is) it might work better at the right level in the mix. At least he can play more or less in time, which is a huge plus if you ask me.
looks awesome!
Probably, but I really don't want to create a facebook account to see it.
Man up - it's only 40lb!!!!
But that's more than 18kg!

No-one should ever attempt to sing, it's just plain wrong. And it leads to TV programmes like 'The Voice' and 'X-factor'. Eurrghh!!

As has been said, if you're not happy then return it, but Fender Mike Dirnt are made in Mexico, so that's correct. I wouldn't say that because the neck plate doesn't have the star that it's necessarily a fake, though. And I've never heard anyone complain before that a bass is too light! In the end it's about how it feels, plays and sounds. If you don't like it, you don't like it. But I'm not sure if instantly escalating with PayPal is the way to go... did you contact the seller and discuss your concerns with them first to see what they say?
G&L SB2 would be my choice.
I came here to say the same thing, so there you go.
...The main difference is that instead of 45, 65, 80, 105 the strings are now 50, 70, 85, 105 and they seem to be more "together" tonally if that makes sense? Previously the D & G seemed overly twangy against the E & A.
Makes a lot of sense to me, Lozz. I think 50, 70 and 85 are way more 'natural' to a 105 - sounds more balanced across the strings. IMHO.

Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow 25/6/16
discreet replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
The only people you'd really want to see in a Rainbow reunion are dead.
Not... Zippy, George and Bungle?? Geoffrey I'm not bothered about. -
I do think the first album is really good, and not particularly "formulaic"
The first album wouldn't be, would it? You need at least two or preferably three samples to detect a pattern.
-
I have nothing against them and of course would love a fraction of the success they've had, but there's something about their songs that's missing for me. Too formulaic. They do it well, though. But then I'm probably a bit old to be in their target audience... I think they are lacking an element of good old rock 'n roll 'danger' for want of a better word - they're just too nice. Where are the drugs, the girls, the trashed cars and hotel rooms, the guns? The other problem is, I don't really rate Nate that much. I would surely have loved to be in the right place at the right time, too. Of course in the end all that 'badass' stuff is mainly just posturing and mythologising - even in bands that are known for it - and if I were cynical (which I am) I'd say all that is just part of their marketing. So are the Foos more 'honest', then? If so, it does them no favours.
