1.
When my wife asks "why the kids are starving?", i'm gonna say "ask that bloody Discreet!"
Woops! Oh dear. Well... look on the bright side. If you become homeless at least you'll have somewhere to sleep.
 2.
I don't know if I have to be thumping a really loud bass constantly to draw 600 watts but just turning the volume up and playing quietly didn't make much difference.
The lesson is: Always take manufacturers' specifications with a pinch of salt. Except Barefaced.
 3. Wow. Excuse my ignorance, but is this an Overwater Original? Nice!
 4.
You can go around the house & switch individual items on & off & see exactly what they're costing!
I've got an energy meter, but I don't need to look at it - all I have to do is follow my missus and boy round the house like a ghost switching off lights, TVs and computers when they inevitably leave a room without doing so, all the while mumbling, 'I'm not made of money, you know', 'Please don't take electricity for granted' and 'Who's watching this telly? The invisible man??' and so on and so forth...
 5. That's one of the good things about the Babicz - regardless of how you have it set up, it's very smooth and ideal for palm muting.
 6. The one on the left, I reckon.
 7. I didn't think that you'd swap out single for twin-coil (humbucking) pickups on a Jazz to change the sound - I thought the idea was to preserve the Jazz sound but eliminate the annoying hum and buzz you tend to get when soloing either the bridge or neck pickups. But the reason behind the potential mod isn't specified in the OP.
 8. Just in cast anyone is still wondering how this works, this is what a twin-coil (humbucking) Jazz pickup looks like under the cover. The deal is, it occupies the same space as a single-coil Jazz pickup but with the advantages of a humbucker.
 9.
Of course there's an 8x10 for that....
That Barefaced 8X10 has given me GAS... must resist...
 10. I think you've done the right thing, Ad. Of course there is always some kind of compromise to be made otherwise you'd never play at all - in fact I was beginning to think that I was being far too picky and precious about the kind of band I'd be prepared to join - and therefore would probably never play again. So I lowered my sights by about a degree and struck a balance. And it feels right, generally. But if it doesn't feel right enough, then it's not right. Good luck with your new venture, keep us posted.
 11. You may even be able to run four 12ohm cabs = 3ohms - which isn't too much effort for a 4ohm amp. Having said that I doubt you'd ever need to run four cabs...
 12.
And I am also umming and ahing about buying a BVT...
Oh God no, don't buy TWO bits of crap gear on my account!
 13.
...don't get me started on the Doors!
I'll start the doors, you do the windows. *DECORATING JOKE* OK, OK, I'm going...
 14.
Every Beatles or McCartney thread includes plenty of slagging off.
That's due to the large number of slags on the forum.
 15. The bass line to 'Something' is a tour-de-force of creative bass playing. To me it sounds like McCartney played whatever came into his head and much if not all of it made it onto the final recording. It is intuitive, irregular and has a fresh, spontaneous feel. Yes, it's quite active but McCartney was master of avoiding the obvious. The other instruments are incredibly sparse anyway, so the line is basically a counterpoint to the vocal melody and works brilliantly. It supports the entire harmonic structure of the song. It's generally regarded as the best line McCartney ever came up with, but even so, in my opinion it is still criminally underrated.
 16.
Like you I also used my B1on in front of it and sounded great.
I think the B1on is hugely underrated. I must post a review of it at some point.
 17.
Only 2 negatives are that it is very heavy as has already been said and I don't think it's as loud as I would have hoped.
Well I'm glad you sort-of like it. At that price you could do what Painy did, buy another and slave the second amp in the same box for extra volume. But I don't think that's going to help much with the weight problem.
 18. That is not a 70s P-Bass decal. The one in the pic looks hand-drawn to me.
 19.
I'm thinking maybe even a colour pickguard that matches the maple fretboard.
You know... sometimes the best solution is to just do nothing and leave things as they are...
 20.
How about some nice tort?

Hmm, second thoughts - maybe a red tort pickguard?
GET OUT!!
 21.
And change the body for a white P body?
Brilliant.
 22.
I'd probably switch the pickguard.

I was thinking black?
No, not Black! Mint, Parchment or Cream. And swap out the neck for dotted rosewood. Seriously though, nice bass.
 23.
Harley Benton strings from Thomann are surprisingly decent for less than four quid a set!
Great Scott, do you think we're made of money? That's very nearly twenty shillings per string.
 24.
I'm umming and ahhing about getting one. I want another amp as backup and maybe even to use as not as a backup. It's between this and that bugera bvp5500 but don't know much about either. can't find decent soundclips.
Soundclips aren't that great for making amp choices imo. You really have to be in the room with one, though I do understand that's not always possible. Ask Thunderbird, I think he's had one for the longest time. I'd make a clip, but I don't have a BVT currently. Though I may get another just for the hell of it.
