I do my own set-ups generally, but it's well worth £65 IF the set-up includes a nut change, fret-levelling and crowning and all the other actual skilled work that I can't/don't want to do. The bass should play like a completely different instrument and the change should be startling.

Now I want some Kai-Ora.

Roses are red, violets are blue; I've got Alzheimer's - cheese on toast.

How about this? Another strength is your ability To make up poems despite senility Do I win £5?

Good idea, but you've had my contribution already. That's all I've got.

Had the same issue with a Wal. Luckily, I couldn't afford it.

Sold Harry a little GK combo. Fast payment, great comms and no issues. Perfect deal!

Nah... that's more of an orange...

Aeeeeiiiioooouuuuugghhhhhh!!!!

If you ask for opinions on here, you'll get them, big time! Reading isn't important for me, but it obviously is for you. That's fine with me. Nothing ferocious about it. There's no 'correct' opinion. Horses for courses.

Me too. Not that I have anything against reading, or learning to do it. I'm a lazy bugger and in any case it's never been necessary. No-one in four decades has ever stuck a bit of music in front of me and said, 'play that'. Just don't revolve in those circles. Don't do the kind of work that needs it. Pino Palladino doesn't read, and he's doing fine. That's my excuse.

Yes, you need a good eye AND a good ear. Preferably two of both.
-
Completely understandable. Where are they going to find someone as good as you at short notice?

In addition to all the great advice so far posted, my solution (as it has been on several occasions) would be to contact John (KiOgon) and get him to send me a new, complete wiring loom with CTS pots, Switchcraft Jack and a Sprague Orange Drop. Solderless, easy and complete with a little screwdriver and instructions. All for the price of about fifteen minutes in the pub. Can't go wrong!

If it has been decided that I'm playing bass on a recording, then I'm VERY bothered about it, it matters very much and I will take the trouble to make it as good as it can be. Of course I expect the same level of attention to detail from everyone else involved. Get in the fecking pocket, you bastards! But I'm absolutely not precious about having 'real'' bass on a recording if a synth bass, or a sampled or sequenced or programmed bass is more appropriate for the song. Just as long as it's not too difficult to make a decent fist of it live, by whatever means.

Yes. TV Yellow in this case.

Lush!

I love a P Bass me, obviously, but am going through a Jazz phase at the moment. Luckily I didn't sell my Jazz when last going through a P phase (which is what usually happens) and so I didn't need to buy another Jazz! Is my Jazz buying and selling routine finally over?

What is this... 'CAR' you speak of..?
-
Plus one. I'm not saying it's not worth learning, but in forty-odd years I've really not found it necessary.
-
Yes. I have one and find it more than adequate. Great quality all round and good value.

I had one of these and bitterly regret selling it. Best gigging cab ever, bar none. You WILL be heard live, regardless of band, room, political situation, civil war, hurricane, acts of God, etc. etc. Used it with a G-K MB500 Fusion and the rig growled like Growler the growly bear, winner of last year's Mr Growly Bear Competition. If you can afford this, buy it now. They're getting rare.
