Dep bass player found for NW rock and soul covers band
Mick's Lawmen want me to sing Born To Be Wild. I've been rejecting it as too cheesy and long-forgotten by most punters. Do you reckon it's still a crowd-pleaser?
Yes. It's in the national psyche as it's constantly all over TV ads, films, programmes... so not forgotten. -
No worries. I like a chunky neck - I'm definitely more P than J. The nut width has already been mentioned, and there's a decent bulk to the back of the neck... It's a little chunker than the M-2000 (but it does have that lovely inbetween-y profile).
Thanks for that. I've also seen a few negative reviews online with regard to tone and build quality, but you're always going to get lemons (basses AND bass players). From what's been said here, they are obviously the exception.

Oh dear. At this price it seems rude not to... and I'm on the look-out for a backup beater... 41mm nut width is encouraging, too. I'm hoping the neck is a little on the chunky side, as most Ibby's I've tried have been a bit too thin for my banana fingers. I really like the look of the ivory/tort/rosewood.
...the actual chances of making a band that stayed together, quite remarkable in its own right .
This. It's easy to be a successful band, all you have to do is be focused, keep at it and stay together for long enough for it to happen. This is very rare, as one or more band members will inevitably become disillusioned or sidetracked or distracted and it's back to square one. As Woody Allen said, 80% of success is showing up - and he's right.

But now I have very serious GAS for one of these...

Not as bad as I thought it was going to be, but to me most bass singlecuts looks like the offspring of a whale and Pac-Man I'm sorry to say. Of course the most important thing is how it plays and how it sounds, isn't it? ...Isn't it..? Anyway if we're going on appearance alone, KS basses always look to me like they've got a pair of buttocks. However, I'm quite prepared to admit that may be more of an issue with me than it is with KS basses, but there it is. -
Iron Maiden : Book of souls - thoughts on 'poor production'?
...some of the section changes in the songs seemed very clinical. almost like they had been recorded in sections then slotted together.
Like an edit, you mean? Surely not! Heaven forfend! -
Great, isn't it? Such restraint - it seems to have no visible means of support but hangs together brilliantly. Great groove too and no compulsion to fill every nanosecond with relentless crap or some kind of pad or effects trick. That's the power of drugs, kids!
...if you saw that clip from Facebook the music was top class

Just watched a vid on facebook of Jo Harman singing with them, sounded great
http://bit.ly/1M6TD5u Could only find this, is it the one? Bass sounding pretty good...
I see I am supposed to mention my gear...
Not compulsory by any means, but since you have... great gear.

Live bass often sounded crap. The advent of The Fridge around 1969 helped a lot. Recorded bass sounded great though and still does, in my opinion. There were a lot of amps of variable quality about it's true, but the very best were incredibly expensive at the time. Still are.

Hi David, welcome to the forum. I can't wait to hear The Army of Grandparent Child Minders, sounds like an interesting band.

I had a willy dream last night. Worryingly Germaine Greer, Esther Rantzen and Joan Bakewell were in it. Obviously I watched far too much TV as a teenager in the the 1970s.

Well a buttery fredboat IS pretty essential...
