1.
I could never use a MB head without another preamp in front of it.
Me neither, I always had a BDI-21 in front of mine to warm it up. Then boosted the MB mids for a bit of definition.
 2.
There are a few strange ladies and gents who don't like Fenders but help is available.
Absolutely. You should never stop taking your medication without talking to your GP first.
 3.
Well to be fair tech 21 are completely taking the piss with the price of their pedals.
I mostly agree, but it's the sound you're buying into rather than the inherent value of the components. Having said that I've had three VT Basses over the years, absolutely love them, but I've never been able to bring myself to pay full retail price for a new one! I always got them second-hand from this establishment.
 4.
If we had one of the "ba-ba-dum-tish" emoticons on here it'd be like that sponsored drumathon.
5. Top of the morning to you, and so on.
 6.
Gosh ! You seem very angry today . ) I I agree with you tho
Hee, hee. I didn't mean to come over quite so crazy. It's because I've been in one or two situations recently where people have behaved like stupid spoilt kids instead of logical adults. I should be used to it really, the music business seems to attract 'em.
 7.
As long as they sound good and are reliable, not fussed.
Me neither - just suggestions as to how they can do it at this price.
 8. Probably could do with a 'NSFW' label... as I found to my cost. Just sayin'.
 9. How old is your guitarist, twelve? Sulking because you can't get your way is pathetic. As is the singer, who is apparently so good that not only do they not have to share in paying for or transporting the equipment that is specifically for vocals, but don't even need to be burdened with the tedious details in the first place! Are they not even slightly curious as to how this gear magically appears for gigs and rehearsals? I'm absolutely and totally sick of this kind of selfish behaviour. I'd have walked away from this lot some time ago. I did an audition the other day at which a singer/guitarist turned up who actually couldn't sing or play the guitar. Not in the least. It was really embarrassing. But when the band leader quite rightly blew this guy off for being a chancer, he got the hump and refused to take 'no' for an answer. Then next day proceeded to subject the BL to a tirade of abuse by phone and Whatsapp (whatever that is). Deluded or what?? What's wrong with these people? I blame the parents, the grandparents, the nanny state, the education system, the something-for-nothing brigade and Hitler. But not necessarily in that order.
 10. Everyone needs one of these in their gig bag and at this price you don't even have to think about it. If I didn't already have two, this would be on its way to me right now. It is a DI box of course, but it's so much more. Think SansAmp, preamp, tone-shaper...
 11.
Haven't used a Schroeder myself, it was one I've considered and I don't think I was put off by the reports.
There's really only one course of action, in that case... get hold of one and use it at a gig.
 12.
How are they so cheap??!
Modular construction, mid-range components and made in the far east..?
 13.
Aha, found one of the references, and it was on BC: http://basschat.co.u...ssuesforgotten/
Thanks for posting, I remember that thread. As the OP says it was very likely a Friday afternoon job and it did get sorted out pretty quickly. And it was six years ago. I suppose I am by definition a bit of a Schroeder fanboi as I do like the product, but I don't want to come over as an apologist/promoter for Schroeder as I have no affiliation to, or interest in the company. As always, I can only post my own personal experience, which is that the two Schroeder cabs I've owned have been brilliant in every way and suit me perfectly. Obviously YMMV and other products are available. There are going to be problems with the output of any manufacturer, nothing is ever 100%. I don't know why, but it seems that small 'boutique' companies are often singled out for quite virulent treatment on forums when their products are less than perfect (see the many Barefaced threads in this place), compared with a large manufacturer such as Ampeg, but then advertising is a powerful (and expensive) tool and brand perception and awareness is king.
 14.
I`ve just bitten the bullet, Thomann currently have them in stock. Loved the VT DI, hoping that the amp version is just as good.
Will be very interested to know your thoughts, Lozz.
 15.
I used the 15PL and the Mini 8 +L at the last gig. Tolex covered as opposed to an Epoxy paint. Light with bite!
Oooh... I think that deserves to be seen a little bigger...
 16.
It wasn't so much whether it would fall apart but the quality of the finishing where it wasn't visible - ragged holes in baffles, that sort of thing.
Ahh... I've not looked inside mine. Though the interior of my 1212L was acceptable as I remember. Obviously not finished to the same standard as the exterior, but then why would you? Function is all. I suppose you could level the same criticisms at Schroeder finishing as some people do at Barefaced, but it doesn't bother me. I don't listen with my eyes, and nor do punters. I get the impression the newer ones are finished to a higher standard, but as I haven't seen one in the flesh yet, I couldn't tell you. Come to think of it, that's a great excuse to buy a new Schroeder cab - to see (and hear) what it's like.
 17. No, but I imagine someone way out west will take them off your hands.
 18.
ISTR there was mention somewhere (here or TB, can't remember which) of the build quality of the older generation cabs deteriorating.
I'll have a look for that later. Mine isn't showing any signs of deterioration. It's ten years old, but to be fair it hasn't been toured or anything. I have it on fairly big castors, I don't know if that makes a difference... though it does tend to get used as a trolley for the rest of my gear. I think for a 4ohm, one-cab solution it's hard to beat. I've heard that you have to be selective about which amp you use with it. So far I've used a Streamliner 900, a G-K MB500 Fusion and now an Ashdown ABM 500 EVO II, which with a P-Bass, roundwounds and a pick, makes for a reet loud and proper rock rig that is also reasonably portable. But I believe cabs from other manufacturers are also available...
 19.
Anyone had an direct experience of both generations?
No, but I can't imagine they're going to be wildly different. I might swing by TB later and see what they've got to say.
 20.
I was going to make another point, but I've forgotten what it was now.
Haha, that's typical of you, er, er... whatsyername... thingy. Sea-salt... Shellfish...
 21.
Jesus,what have I started?
Obviously you've tapped in to a long felt want.
 22.
That sound gives the best of both worlds: good out front sound; great on stage monitoring.
Great cab. So easy to transport, too. One hand lift. Out off all the gear I've had over the years, it's the one thing I really regret selling. I let it go for a pittance, too! What was I thinking?? Oh well, if another comes up...
 23.
I had my 1212L for ages. Everyone talks about the midrange hump, which seems to be true, but my current Phil Jones rig, which is considered 'hi-fi' and pure, sounds almost identical, just a bit 'smoother'.
I had a 1212L too, and stupidly sold it. Small cab, huge sound. I found the mid-hump to be an advantage - you will be heard under ANY circumstances. I may get another!
 24.
That's "dealt",not felt!!
Hey that's cool, no-one is here to judge you. Relax.
 25.
...they sound a bit "meh" especially at low volumes, but it`s in the mix that counts and that`s where these cabs come to life.
Absolutely right Lozz. If you want a cab for noodling at home get something else. If you gig in a band get one of these. So far there has been no room I haven't been able to fill with big, bouncy, well-defined bass - with or without PA support. 21012L spec:

2 X 10" Neo Drivers
1 X 12" Neo Driver mounted on angled baffle
200W Tweeter with Attenuator
1 X Speakon and 1 X 6.3mm Jack Inputs
1000W RMS @ 4ohms
49lb (22kg)
23.5 X 23.5 X 16" (60 X 60 X 40 cm)
This is the older version with the angled 12" driver. The new ones have all three drivers on a flat front baffle, but somehow Jorg has managed to keep the size of the cab roughly the same, maybe an inch or so bigger all round. It's like a pocket 8X10. It can handle a LOT of power - in fact it seems to thrive on it. It hasn't once given any hint that it's reaching its limits. Edit: I bought this last September, so nearly a year GAS-free cabwise! A record!
