1. Just to answer your original question, I believe you'd be better off with two identical 2X10 cabs rather than a 2X10 and a 1X15. Which 2X10 cabs you finally use is of course up to you, but I can certainly recommend Barefaced. One Retro Two10 may be all you need anyway. Products from Bergantino, Aguilar and Markbass are also recommended. You really need to try a few, as Bill says. There is a lot of love on this forum for a modular system of two 1X12 cabs. There are few situations where two 1X12s won't be more than adequate, depending on venue and which amp you're using of course.
2.
...if that's my twobob'sworth, maybe I should get change back.
On this forum it's more usual to offer an opinion worth 2p, so your opinion is definitely too valuable. To the tune of 8p.
3.
You need to keep people away from your kit, even when they're fans of yours ...
4. Congratulations... Another Lull in the proceedings, arf arf. You've got to love an ash/maple combo and thank god you weren't tempted to fit a tort guard. Enjoy.
5.
Pinnacle of bass playing? Bwahahahahaha!!!
+1
6. £40? You could probably part it out for more than that.
7.
...I'll just carry on recording gigs and hope we get another which hits the spot as well as that one did.
The easiest option. I recorded a rehearsal where everything was spot-on perfect for a particular track, except I didn't realise a fan was blowing over the recorder microphones rendering the whole thing unusable with low-frequency noise. The frustrating thing was in the background you could hear that the mix was perfect and everyone was playing brilliantly. After a LOT of messing about we had to let it go. In the end the drummer point-blank refused to play it anyway because he didn't like it. He is utterly wet and a weed.
8. Seems remarkably affordable for a 1964 bass that could be restored with very little effort...
9. I'd be reluctant, too. Just not a natural entrepreneur, I suppose.
10.
2 112 cabs sound very good together...
That they do... more flexible also. Leave one at home for practice while you take the other to rehearsal... and both for gigs where you will get more than enough headroom and big air-movement joy. Also dependant on which amp you're using, obviously...
11. This I like a lot..! And the T4, obviously...
12. If the cabs already have the holes for push-in castors I'd be tempted to use those instead of a trolley. I have a trolley and my cab has large castors and there's nothing in it really. I only used the trolley for a heavy all-valve amp and a cable bag.
13. I felt the same in 1979 about Shergold... enjoy your new baby.
14. I've used them and they're OK... it's easy to learn the songs you need a low-D for, just pattern memory, really. The thing is I think they're unnecessary. With a bit of practice it's easy to just manually tune your E to D and back in a second or two. Then you don't have the expense of buying a D-tuner, the hassle of fitting it (possibly making non-standard screw holes in your headstock), then losing money by selling it when you realise you don't need it...
15.
I tried to buy one on gumtree once but the guy stopped talking.
What, while you were on the phone? Did you hear him collapse? Had he fainted, or been shot or something?
16. Skeletor! He-Man! By the power of Greyskull! It's all good. PS: I think 'The Clit Commander' is the best song name in the history of music. Seriously.
17. I'm actually starting to appreciate the black 'n' maple thing... and that's a total bargain.
18.
...sharing a stool with a naked drummer is a most unsavoury thought.
I wouldn't want to share a stool with anyone, frankly... eurrgh!
19.
That's like saying a concrete neck would feel the same as a wooden neck if it had the same finish on.
It wood though, wooden it? Har, har.
20. Crikey, aren't there more women going? Looks like it's going to be a right old sausage-fest!
21.
Couldn't they have thought of anything nice to say about him?
Er... he has two children and lives in Surrey?
22. Another vote for the Stagg angled stand. Super-stable and accommodates widely different cab sizes and shapes.
23.
Good lord I wouldn't want to go through that phase twice.
24. Quite a bit cheaper when bought direct .
25. It's 10kg lighter than an Ampeg fridge! But where did the 92p come from, though?
