1.
I'll have to see how much I like them in 6 months time.
Six months??
 2. Not for me - I get enough hernia trauma from a normal smooth-backed bass! *Carefully adjusts truss*
 3.
But.. do you still use them? Why/why not?
Not currently, but it's not because I don't like them - I've been sent some strings for review and also because having used Rotos exclusively for more than 30 years I'm frantically trying out lots of different strings. I do have a couple of packs of new BTs ready to go - this is a good sign - I never buy strings twice if I don't get on with them. I also like DR Fat Beams, so suspect we might be on the same page.
 4. Yes, I've used these on a couple of my basses and on my guitar, too. In short they are great and you should definitely try them. They are a revelation really, makes you realise that over time you have got so used to your strings being wildly differing tension that you don't really notice it. Makes a lot of sense when you think about it - I think every manufacturer should at least offer them as an option.
 5. The registered trademark symbol was added above the Fender logo in the early 1970s and this cloverleaf model was the primary gear for all bass models until around 1977. German-made Schallers had already been fitted on some models from 1976 and continued to 1982. Being Fender, all dates are approximate of course.
 6.
May be I'm just really picky
Nothing wrong with that. Any of the DHA stuff is going to be better than a BDI and it's priced accordingly. Horses for courses and all...
 7. There are loads of places on the interwebz where you can download various drum loops and patterns in every conceivable genre. Having said that I have been using FL Studio for years and generally speaking it's always worth getting to know. Like every DAW, it's quite a steep learning curve, but there is always a way to do what you want quickly and easily... once you get over the difficult bits.
 8. We need to buy this, set fire to it and bury the remains so no-one ever has to see it again.
 9.
In my opinion, because, as a non musician, it probably wouldn't be constructive criticism as you can't offer any helpful advice.
I respectfully disagree... before I became a musician I could tell if someone was playing a bum note or not!
 10.
I was just making sure I'd seen them all.
That seems perfectly reasonable... *tosses self into coma over internet porn*
 11.
turdburst.
I had one of those this morning.
 12.
Reduce the coffee intake, though.
It's Bolivia's finest!
 13. My last few recording projects bored the crap out of me - all this recording by committee and fiddling about endlessly for hours got right on my boobies!! So having been left to my own devices today, here's my entry for this months competition. It's based on a combination of drum loops and other drum bits and pieces I had lying around. Start to finish it took forty minutes. The bass (Marathon) is live, one take, warts and all - as is the guitar (Harley Benton Strat). I deliberately didn't go back in to fix any timings, bum notes or anything else, so if you like your music very organised and perfectly played and recorded, you're going to be a bit disappointed! (I'm looking at YOU, The Eagles...) However... hopefully I've retained something of the energy and freshness that compositions can have initially, but which then gets lost through over-zealous turd-polishing, otherwise known as 'post-production' ... PLAY LOUD! What Goes Up...
 14. Agree with whoever didn't like Antigua, it's a truly horrible finish. Makes a bass look like a crappy ghost - on the moon!
 15. [Insert two knob-gags and a misogynist comment]
 16.
I have to say I'm not a fan of the BDI-21. I know it's quite well regarded, but for me it sounded terrible.
Depends what you do with it. If you just want to liven up a boring amp - *cough* Markbass! *cough* - thicken up your tone and have a bit of grit, it's just the job and great value. If you want it to sound like an Ampeg SVT-CL on full song through an 8 X 10 you are going to be a bit disappointed. The VT Bass is much better at that sort of thing.
 17. Good luck and well done. Nice rig. The current mrs discreet always says the same thing which is, 'that's nice, dear'.
 18.
Yeah, but it's not going to look like this monstrosity, is it?
I was thinking of something along these lines, but maybe a little more subtle...
 19. Every time I see this I realise my life has got shorter. Kill me now.
 20. I too had a VT1 EQ and it was really good. I can't actually remember why I sold it, now. I would also recommend the Tech-21 VT Bass and if you're on a budget, Behringer's BDI-21.
 21. [Insert joke about G-String]
 22.
They'd have to use a support act. Everyone needs a Can opener.
23.
There were some truly horrendous "crackle" finishes in the 80s. Washburn, Jackson and Charvel seemed to be the main offenders...
I was thinking of doing a refin in 'craqueleur' style, i.e. a type of checking...
