1. Like it. Definitely a project there for someone.
  2.
...the only thing better from the players point of view is you can be quite inaccurate on a double bass without being found out - unlike on a fretless or fretted electric!!.
Just as I thought - UBs are for charlatans and chancers!! I categorise UB players with jugglers, unicyclists and the homeless.
  3. Jose very kindly sent me one of his stick-on thumb rests for my Marathon... it works really well. Great comms, great guy, all good, would certainly recommend. Thanks very much!
  4. Saw a bit of MH and wasn't too impressed, but they've never been my thing to be fair. Florence is not, and never will be, a singer. I've always maintained that she sounds like an aphasic gibbon screeching down a well. YMMV.

Can't beat a maple board (with the possible exception of a one-piece maple neck) and the SPB-1 is an excellent choice.
  6. It's to stop ringing and overtones and provide a modicum of muting. I've tried the Gruv Gear Fretwrap but didn't like it - obviously it will only mute open strings and not fretted strings. Also it takes up too much space at the nut first/fret. I'm going to try the new rubbery thing that fits over the strings at the bridge (also from Gruv) which hopefully will be like a more controllable version of the traditional foam sponge.
  7. Late 70s... I was mostly riding a Triumph 3TA. What a racket.
  8.
OK, OK, I suppose you're right, as usual. The video was still dated, though..!
Well I do like to ruin a good joke with facts, as you know.
  9.
Well, I've never seen you together..!
Well... Clive Dunn is dead and last time I saw Jack, he was definitely breathing and moving about. Not much it's true, but I'm fairly certain he was alive.
  10.
If you can apply the words thick and chunky to it compared to anything other than a wafer, it's probably not gonna suit me. I have gimpety hands. Thin, shallow necks all the way for me...
As a P-Bass man, it's all relative... I wouldn't say thick or chunky. Just not super-thin. I'd say try to find someone within striking distance who's got one and try it.
  11. I like Black Forest Gateau from the 1970s, but not having a time machine I'm unlikely to ever taste it again!
  12.
Try to guess who will take the photos and record the audio?

... but you shouldn't have to also bake the cake and make the tea. Some other bod will surely do that..? Surely..?
Yeah, Jack can do it - he's a new man and is very anti gender-stereotyping. That's what he told me, anyway...
  13.
Raised an eyebrow when I pulled a sparkly orange bongo out...
An eyebrow? I got 200 hours Community Service!
  14.
We have a winner!!! Hoping to pick it up this afternoon, just awaiting confirmation.
Well done! Obviously we'll need a full NBD thread with pics, review, audio clip... and cake.
  15.
Gone for £365...
So Happy Jack must be the new owner! Congratulations, Jack! When do you want me to come and pick it up..?
  16.
I've seen them here as well: http://www.stringsdi...dampener-p10306 I quite like the idea of these, as while a bit of foam does the job for free, in practice it's a bit too much faff to fish the bit of foam in and out for specific songs.
Thanks! I don't like foam either. I've been practicing the 'floating thumb' method, but it makes me look awkward - the unusual spazzy arm position and the rapt look of concentration on my face (with my tongue sticking out), makes me look like I'm having a stroke.
  17. Yes, I want one... are they currently only available from the US?
  18. If you're not using it sell it and buy something else. But be aware at some point you'll probably get GAS for a P Bass...
  19. Oh the joy of the lovely, free, unregulated market. Have you made your concerns know to IndigO2? I'm sure they'd be happy to explain their service charge to you in detail.
  20.
looks nice! talk about diminishing returns, when comparing this to £1k fender strat...
Thanks - I'm sure you're right, though I've never played a £1K Fender Strat. I've played some pretty expensive basses though and even owned one or two, but there's nothing I can do on them that I can't do on a decent Squier...
  21.
And there I was expecting this guy...
I was expecting that guy, too.
  22.
The power stage makes a big difference, though. Expecially on dynamics. You dig into the strings, the amp gives it back - more than on SS amps.
I have found this to be the case with every amp I've used that had a valve power stage. It's more alive, somehow.
  23.
May I have a Yes. Yes you can please?
No. No, you can't.
  24. I think people do sometimes over-value their goods on eBay, generally speaking. I like to start auctions at 99p no reserve, that way you get a lot more people looking at them, and chances are you'll get a similar price to any BIN you list... because you started a fire under it. People get auction fever and bid way more than they usually would pay for a BIN. That's my theory, anyway! Welcome to the forum.
