1.
Yes I can't complain, it's not exactly a chore... Paul has agreed to let me take some photos of his workshop / work in progress basses so hopefully I'll be able to put together a little Wal workshop visit thread after my trip down there in a couple of weeks time.
I think it's the least you can do, really.
 2. Busy busy with all the Wal servicing and maintenance and new bass and such... Bah! *jealous* Thhp!
 3. I love a happy ending, me. And P basses. Enjoy.
 4. Presumably you couldn't hear it, not just because it's way below the audible frequency for humans, but because as space is a vacuum, there is no medium for the sound to travel through..?
 5.
Are PJ's allowed?
I think that one is.
 6. Dammit, I just can't sit here and not post pics of my P in a P appreciation thread!! I join the club!! With sincere apologies to everyone who has seen these pics about a million times. This is for that remaining member who has not. Oops, I did it again!
 7.
...the only redeeming feature of my Wal GAS is that it took them so long to build it I had two years to cobble the pennies together!
Oh God, don't tell me that... though I've just been looking at their website and it seems even the deposit would take some getting together, so that's a good thing... I think. Mustn't buy another bass... mustn't buy another bass... mustn't buy another bass... (repeat and fade)
 8.

WAY too many strings of course, but... wow! I officially have Wal GAS. It's going to be a problem.
 9.
I do apologise, it looked like someone with indigestion
10.
...the original question was about alternatives and so to counter the purists, I gave one ;0
You didn't flee!
 11.
Please keep up. https://www.blackstaramps.com/
D'oh! I know! I was just having a bit laugh and a joke. What do you think the '' was for?
 12. Never heard of Blackstar... is it one of the Behringer brands..?
 13.
I once received a bass in a bin liner delivered by myhermes, which they left on my door step all day whilst I was at work iin full view of the main road into central London.... despite long odds to the contrary, I arrived home and there it was, untouched and not a scratch on it.
God, myHerpes are really crap. To the extent that if I'm buying something from BC I'll tell the seller that I would be happy with delivery by any means, EXCEPT for myHermes or Yodel. All couriers have scare stories associated with them, that's just statistics, but I've had proportionately more rubbish experiences with myHerpes than any other courier, with Yodel coming a close second.
 14. The standard Roger Waters' bass is black and maple, but really you could have any colour you like... *runs like hell*
 15. White/Black/Maple... can't fail! Very nice.
 16.
Had a white one of these as a loaner for a while. Great to play. I seem to recall that the "stereo" was different to the Rickenbacker kind in that it split the outputs into one for the E and A strings and the other one for the D and G strings.
That it does... if you use one of the output sockets you get all four strings in mono. You get the split if you use both sockets. I'm not sure why you'd want to bi-amp E+A and D+G strings separately though, it doesn't make much sense to me.
 17.
Never been a huge fan of the looks but I really like the tone in the OP's clip, very nice playing as well!

Great sounding bass & nice tasteful playing too. Glad to hear you're keeping the original colour too. Black & maple never looks wrong!
Thanks for the comments... kind of wish I'd spent a bit more time on the clip, now! Here's one demonstrating the Marathon's RAWK credentials... this is through an Ignite Amps SHB-1, which is an Ampeg SVT sim. 18. Holy Mother of God, that's fantastic!!
 19. Actually the OP's question is 'how do you recognise a good tonewood', not 'does type of wood make any difference to the tone of a bass', so we've probably all missed the point.
 20.
The notion of tonewoods has been comprehensively proven to be bollocks.
21.
Question: is a 'no it all' in constant denial..?
Yes.... No.
 22. I always imagine I get more heft from a maple neck compared to a rosewood. But this may have something to do with the fact that my basses not only have maple fingerboards (one is also a one-piece) and maple necks, but are pretty chunky and wide at the nut, and thus comprise a LOT of wood. Fnarr. So it could be that. PLUS, I'm almost certainly mentally ill, so it could be that too. Wibble. *Cuddles goat*
 23.
discreet - modern Amoeg SVTs are made in the far East.
I know - I was taking the P as usual.... hence the ''
 24.
I wonder if anyone has ever left bad feedback?

I was thinking the same thing
I've seen a couple of less-than-positive feedback posts, they are out there. Very unusual, though. Mainly because most people are cool and this is a relatively safe place to deal. Also I think because BassChatters are essentially nice people, they don't like to leave negative feedback even when it would be appropriate (myself included). Which of course compromises the integrity of the feedback system. We have to be brutally honest, people! It's for the good of the community!
