I have underlying GAS for one of these that seems separate from regular GAS... It's always there in the background nagging away at me.
I'm in exactly the same situation. Drooled over these in the 70s and wanted one ever since. Got a Hayman 4040 a while back which has certainly helped a lot, but I still need (want ) a Marathon!
-
Bah! What's wrong with everyone? I think there should be a compulsory test and license requirement before you're allowed to form a band! It would certainly save a lot of time for those people who can actually play!
I don't think the grammar is that bad. I have two friends that write worse than that.
Surely you mean, 'I have two friends WHAT write worse than that.' ? To the OP: Ignore and delete.
Well, maybe I've been worrying over nothing...
What, no crash and burn video?? How disappointing! Seriously though, nice one... I bet you're more relieved than, er... someone who is quite relieved. Or something.
...what I was sent should never have gone out in the first place, as it was obviously a previously returned item.
Ahh... you think they may be still trying to offload the duff combo? Bad form! Thpp!
"The original baddest bass in the west" - The North surely?
Depends how you look at it... Scotland's in The West, isn't it..? As opposed to The East, I mean.
Yes, lets see. I have had mine nearly a year now and it gets about 5 hours use a week.(no problems sos far) Now I have the 210 extension as well I always carry a spare head when I gig if ever the Rumble decides to go tits up.
Well I don't want to perpetuate an Ampeg PF-style reliability issue thing! Just saying that every manufacturer is going to produce a few lemons, nothing can be made 100% operational, it's just not possible. Always wise to have a Plan B!
-
I'm starting to have doubts about the reliability.
Me too, even though a certain fail rate is absolutely normal and to be expected. In my experience if you want great build quality, top components, great sound and reliability, it's never 'affordable'.
He doesn't seem to make these cabs any more. All his current models are front firing speakers.
I'm guessing it's cheaper and less of a pain to have the drivers on a front baffle. He's managed to do it and yet only have the cabs slightly larger than the angled baffle cab. I suppose Schroeder are a bit Marmite - works for me. I think they're well worth auditioning though.
The latest flavour appears to be modular 1x12 or 2x12.
Yes I know, I'm just being obtuse as usual. Got that modular thing covered with my BFM J12 cabs.
-
Wasn't too long ago when they were cropping up but we've now moved onto the 12" period of bass goodness.
Well of course the 21012L is fitted with a 12" driver...
-
Sounds a very interesting cab... don't see too many about tho. They may be a discerning secret..?
It's true they don't come up for sale very often which tells you something, yes. I still look at basses and amps, but I know I'm not going to find a better one-cab solution. It's even better (for me) than my two Bill Fitzmaurice J12s with 12" Kappalites, which is saying a very great deal.
I haven't spent years learning to play and thousands of pounds on quality gear to play for a laugh....
It's a fair point... I'd say the same only I do play for a laugh. But I wouldn't be laughing much if someone was under par. I need everything to be as good as it can be before I'm amused by it.
Maybe one day he'll forget that he's in a band - problem solved .
What problem?
Just tell him! Jesus Christ!
That's another option.
Good, isn't it? I'm never sure whether to laugh, cry, or slip on a pair of crocs, crack open the home brew and sit out in the garden with my bass...
As long as they're enjoying themselves... there's about five seconds at the end where it's actually quite good, so it was all worth it. But the first few notes at the very beginning really do sound like some kind of ruminant clearing its throat. Moo!
-
It's quite hard to watch this without some sort of smile, even though you may alternate the smiling with grimaces and head-shaking...
I alternated my smiling with guffawing and buttock-clenching. So Wishbasses look and sound like cattle. Just as I thought! That made my day, thanks.

Wow, what a transformation. I couldn't believe those 'before' pics. Such clag and goit! Nice job.

Funk cubed, eh? That's more funk than is usual...
Actually, in this case Discreet, you did!
Yes, it's not all just 'have a big laugh and make people feel worried' on here, you know.
-
One thing I would say, whatever you do, don't listen to Discreet!
Pah! You know full well I only give valuable and useful advice!!

It seems to be a link of some sort. Seriously... it's a Wishbass. As in 'I wish he hadn't bothered'. They do have some love on this forum.
