1. 'Desert' just means 'deserted' or 'dry'. It doesn't mean it's tropical. Antarctica is the world's biggest desert.
 2.
The ship starts to sink and it's every man for himself. So I cling to the bass and paddle it to shore like a surf board.
Hmm, OK - but I intend to use my bass and paddle Drew Barrymore to shore like a surf board. Assuming she was on the ship in the first place, of course. *Thinks* Hmm... so all I have to do now is get a job in a cruise band on a ship with Drew Barrymore on the passenger list, then somehow contrive to make the ship sink close to a desert island... I'll do it! What could possibly go wrong??
 3.
I'm assuming there would be solar powered amp already on the island.
I'm assuming there wouldn't be. This is basically a 'what's your favourite bass' thread, isn't it? If you were really stranded on a desert island with a bass (how??) I don't think practicing your scales would be a priority. In fact you'd probably have to burn your bass on a signal fire. Am I not taking this in the spirit in which it was intended??
 4.
Being woken at 9am this morning by my arsehole of a neighbour mowing his lawn has not helped me back into the happy camp yet. Tw@!
I don't think that's unreasonable. You should have been up at 0730 to clean the house and make your partner's breakfast. Just like the current mrs discreet did this morning...
 5.
Does she play drums then ?
I bet she's pretty good on the bongos.
 6.
Thundering around on all the elements would certainly deter more, I would think.

he'd a got the job if it was my band
+1 - Our drummer is very good indeed, but he will do a frigging fill at EVERY opportunity and is always working at making the drums more flowery and impressive, i.e. little triplets on the hats, that sort of thing - while the rest of the band are intent on stripping everything down as far as possible for more impact. He's not playing for the song - he's playing for any drummers in the audience. Twat.
 7. Can I take Drew Barrymore instead?
 8.
WTF happened under the bridge??
I see he also has a Growler for sale.
 9.
It's being delivered on Tuesday...
That's no excuse for not posting pics of it! Mm, vintage cream and maple - liking it a lot. Just had a look at the spec... Bartolinis, Hipshot Ultralites... a lot of bass for the money.
 10. Nice score. I've had Lakland GAS for ages, but have resisted so far! Of course without pics this is just rumour and hearsay, so...
 11. I used one of these for a while, and paired with the preamp of your choice and run in bridged mode, it offers a vast, unlimited vista of headroom and immense power. This is NO MONEY for a very reliable and very portable amp that will never run out of steam under ANY circumstances. Someone please buy it!
 12.
Schroeder 18PL and two Schroeder Mini 8+L
That's a LOT of Schroederage! I never need more than my 21012L so can't imagine what this must be like!

 14. It's a lefty so I'll never have to play it? That's the only advantage I can think of.
 15.
I searched in vain for a barf emoticon...
This one's more in keeping with the style of the forum emoticons. You can borrow it, but I'll need it back for Off Topic later on.
 16.
WTF happened under the bridge??
That's what I said to the current mrs discreet.
 17.
I wouldn't change the basses I have, but I am still on the lookout for a really good modern Jazz type. 4 string, probably passive. I'm hoping the new Sandbergs will be the answer when they arrive. At that point I just might be a 5. For at least a couple of hours.
You should seriously consider a Sire Marcus Miller V7 - when they're back in stock.
 18.
Pics or it didn't happen
You have a very short memory, then! Just in case anyone really hasn't seen them... http://basschat.co.u...ion-bass-audio/
 19.
I can't believe anyone would really be a five forever...
I am as far as one bass is concerned... it was sold and recovered, so I've learnt my lesson. I really must take the time to post a few pics of it one day...
 20.
Discreet - now you're talking! What is it?
It's a Streamline. http://www.status-gr...index_home.html You need to select it from the navigation on the left, I can't link to it directly - crap web design.
 21. Edit: Probably not cheap, I'm thinking.
 22. Are you sure? Spector basses are tiny!
