1. Speaking from experience, if you sell your 78 you will regret it. And no, I'm not helping very much.
 2. Not great if you suffer from migraines.
 3. I can well imagine how this plays and how it sounds. It is a bargain. Good luck with the sale.
 4. Back in the early 70s I remember seeing Opportunity Knocks with Hughie Green... featuring a band called 'Fags 'N' Matches'. So when Hughie said, 'For Fags 'N' Matches... opportunity knocks...' even as a young lad I remember thinking, 'no, it doesn't - that's the worst band name in the history of band names'... of course this was decades before Guns 'N' Roses, in itself a pretty crass band name. IMHO. Edit: No, I didn't dream it - they reformed last year! http://radiosaltire....-matches-davie/
 5.
Maybe they dont like my name eh
Bass: Bill Posters. What's not to like?
 6.
Pantera - do they come from an era of pants?
It's a lovely thought and I wish it were true, but Pantera is Spanish for Panther. Pretty lame, really.
 7.
Psychotic Sand Embroidery.
That's a therapeutic activity, isn't it?
 8. Another cupboard-under-the-stairs job. I'm lucky in that I have the entire space at my disposal. I fitted a five-lever mortice lock for added security. All my gear goes in there whenever I'm out of the house. Apart from when I'm gigging, of course...
 9.
I used to use these before I started using 5 stringers (an alternative to the classic stand) http://www.guitarholder.com
Markbass do a version of this. 10.
Small compact and does the trick: http://www.herculess...rs/GS402BB.html Only thing is the bass leans back quite a bit so with a bass on doesn't save much room but does when it's empty.
Had one but didn't like it, as my bass wasn't perpendicular enough, fussy git that I am.
 11.
Spydabyte
Well it's not as bad as 'Beatles'.
Sh*te and Onions
Best name of the day award.
 12.
My main band's name is terrible. So bad I'm embarrassed to tell people when they ask.
Spill the beans! It can't be any worse than THE DONKEY SPOKE. Can it?
 13.
..the perfect bass does not exist. It is a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
+1 This. The basses you already have are likely to be way more than good enough for 99% of bass players. You say you don't want to be endlessly trading basses, so don't. Concentrate instead on your playing. Over the last few years I've been distracted by GAS and gear and ultimately I've learnt that most gear is really pretty good when it comes down to playing in the real world and any difference in 'tone' or 'quality' promoted by various manufacturers is basically down to marketing and is largely subjective, so don't get hung up over it. Having said that I do like seeing what's available and occasionally flip basses and rigs, but you have to enjoy the process and enter into it with your eyes open, or it just becomes a tedious ordeal where you end up back at square one a few thousand quid lighter!
 14.
This one's good too for use in the house anyway. Great value, seems well built and sturdy. https://www.thomann....stic_guitar.htm
^ One of these.^ The Hercules headstock-clamp stands are good (I have one at home) and they are perfect for medium-to-large venues, but their footprint is too big for smaller pub and club-type gigs and everyone trips over the legs, which though widely-splayed for stability do tend to get in the bloody way. The drummer won't like it as of course he will need to take over the whole stage area when setting up. The other good thing about the cheap Thomann stand is that it's very quick and easy to fold up and carry, whereas the Hercules types need more faff and don't fold down small enough to be convenient. In my humble opinion, of course. I did try this one as well from Thomann https://www.thomann...._55_genesis.htm and it was way too small and flimsy to support a bass guitar. I wouldn't leave it unattended, which defeats the object. It would have been hilarious if I hadn't had to send the damn thing back for a refund.
 15. The smaller one is listed as plywood, which would be a sensible choice.
 16.
And the 'Pro' version is less than £50!
Heh. Of course I have no idea if these products are of any use, or not...
 17.
Or reverse the order and get a cheap flightcase then build a board to fit it!
Or get a reasonable pedalboard bag then build a board to fit it... ...actually while Googling stuff I came across this board-in-a-bag for £32 which seems reasonable. http://www.thomann.d...ard_mit_bag.htm Almost makes me want to buy some FX to use with it! Almost.
 18.
I've always connected my cabs before powering up any amp.

Change nothing, you're doing things the 'safe' way.
19.
There are loads of people about making wooden pedalboards (some from plain old pine, others using exotic timbers) at prices just as high if not higher than the Pedaltrain boards
Ah-ha! So pile 'em high and sell 'em cheap, then...
 20.
Goats Dont Shave.
Well they don't... you can't argue with that.
 21.
...who here has the metalwork skills to make up the PT board itself?
I take your point, but I'd make it out of wood - much lighter and a lot easier and cheaper to fix if (when) it got broke... I'm sure there must be a niche in this market somewhere for an enterprising young woodwork student...
 22.
Did you see the ZVEX pedal board that was £250? Just a bit of bent metal.
Good Lord, that is a lot of money for a sparkly tray! In fact, you'd probably be better off buying a wooden tray from eBay and adapting it... 23.
I wonder if that was a conscious decision, seeing as how pretty much every rock player who uses markbass uses a Tech 21 product in front of it!
I can't imagine it being any kind of a coincidence.
 24.
You'll be saying you don't like the name Dirt Box Disco in a minute..
Love it. In fact I've come up with one of my own, which I give to the world free, gratis and for nothing: Sh*tty Biscuits
