A very heavy relic indeed. A tad pricey too!
discreet replied to itsmedunc's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I like tasteful and authentic-looking relics, but that thing looks like it's been used as a dummy by baby Godzilla. -
I'm sure I wasn't the only one who clicked this link expecting to see a pair of earplugs!
I was expecting to see a drum kit.
I've just sent the link to MrsB... she's actually in the next room, "working from home".
So unemployed, then.

I'm emailing this pic to the current mrs discreet. I'm betting 10-1 her reply will be, 'that's nice, dear'. I'll keep you posted.

Hoppus Jazz/Precision... not actually his though is it?
discreet replied to warwickhunt's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Someone who got bad auction fever and probably doesn't even play bass..? -
I'm sorry, but unless you have pictorial evidence I'm afraid you just made this up as you went along.
It looks like they've painted over a pilchard!
I'm stealing that to use as a euphemism.

I sent an enquiry to FMIC regarding the possible origin of this mysterious mark on the back of the bass: ...and got this reply today: Brett Leasure (Fender) Apr 28, 09:24 Hello Mark, In all honesty, I have no idea what this is or how it got there. I had some experienced people also look at this and they were equally as confused as it is definitely NOT something that should have come out of the factory that way nor does it indicate that it's a real Fender. Brett Leasure Fender Musical Instruments Corp. 17600 N. Perimeter Drive, Suite 100 Scottsdale, AZ 85255 Telephone: (480) 845-5144 Fax: 480-367-5262 So no joy there, then. I'm betting that even if FMIC knew exactly how it got there they wouldn't tell me anyway. I'm unlikely to ever find out what it is. Makes the bass unique though, I like it. -
Haha, you know what I mean .
Yes, I do. I regularly gigged my 76P (and will do so again now I've got it back). Not in same league as a Fodera value-wise, but I made the decision a while back that basses are meant to be played. Not much point spending years choosing and buying the bass of your dreams then leaving it at home, is there? Though buying some decent insurance may be a shrewd move (if not a very rock 'n' roll one).
im defiantly going to be writing about all the people hes worked with the only reason i say for cream for analysing is because ive got chord charts and info for the song im going indetail for
No that's fair enough, I don't think anyone can complain if you analyse a Cream song in a Jack Bruce essay.
-
yeah i have a feeling aswell creams music maybe abit easier to analyse than jacos
He's best known for Cream obviously, but don't forget Blues Incorporated, Graham Bond, John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers, Manfred Mann, West, Bruce & Laing... he also worked with Kip Hanranan and Gary Moore among others.
Nothing with the bass on its own?
In my opinion the bass is not a solo instrument, so no. Can you not hear it? It's mixed front and centre! Thpp! -
...we don't see Victor, Richard Bona or Janek being overly careful with theirs...
We also don't see them taking the overground to Deptford at 11:30 at night with a gig bag.
