Yep, can confirm the 210 extension cabinet is the same size as the Rumble 500 combo. So it's now 2 times the goodness. Strange that the extension cabinet is slightly heavier.
Thanks, that rig looks very cool... I think the combo at least is going to have to get bought, then see how it goes.
Headlining is overrated anyway... everyone has usually gone home by then.
Tru, dat!
Tuco's band know how to deal with this kind of situation...
They sure do! But a first gig, whether the first ever or first with a specific band, is generally chaotic, so perhaps it's an idea to just get it done, take what you can from it and move on?
Just a shame we're not playing post avantgarde Swedish Vegetarian grindcore metal.
Aw, that's my second-favourite metal!
You lost me there pal, what do you mean?
The question that is the title of the thread. Seems like it's a 'yes'.
...I'd agreed to loan someone my head because they'd agreed if there was any damages they'd pay for the repair...
I wouldn't be lending out my gear anyway, but especially not under those conditions.
Went to see a gig last night and one of the bands was guitar and drums only... the guitard played through the house bass amp which was cranked up load and kept asking the soundman why it was feeding back... btw i didn't tell the BC'er i was there to see... didn't want to worry him
Ha! That Hiwatt combo gets a real beating, it's a credit to the brand really. It's also a bit pointless, as you can't hear it on stage if you have anything like a proper level from the monitors. I just had it turned down. It's a useful table for your bottle of water and set-list. And now, back on topic...
I hear you brother about not being out of pocket...but.... ... If I hadn't done free or non expenses sessions, I'd never have known or got myself out there.
I think then you've probably answered your own question. I'd probably do it, even if it cost me... but not if it cost me too much... only you can decide what too much is...

Babicz bridges....true or false ???
discreet replied to Wayne Firefly's topic in Accessories and Misc
I have had a Babicz bridge on a couple of different basses (Fender 5 and Roscoe LG 5) and really like the design for their ease of adjustment and ability to lock the settings in place. As far as tonal differences, I couldn't detect any percievable difference when isolated in a quiet room......YMMV.....once the drummer had completed his 4 count.....not a chance!

They do look nice fair do's !! Marketing is a powerful tool.......
Sums it up for me. Nothing wrong with replacing your bridge if you like the look of a new one and/or it has better functionality. No-one's going to judge you for that - you feckless, market-led, weak-willed mammothrept! -
...a so-called acoustic act that dubs his work as "a journey chronicling his depression over the last few years"...
Sorry, but this made me laugh like a drain for some reason. It's really not going to make for an uplifting night is it? Unless your songs are about unrequited love, loss, and death at sea, in which case you're golden...
You can't just say that and swan off you know! This place has rules! Spill the beans!
Yeah, c'mon! Hurl your chunks, or whatever the saying is!!

From experience, my thoughts are NO to both.

Babicz bridges....true or false ???
discreet replied to Wayne Firefly's topic in Accessories and Misc
FALSE. Bridges make NO difference to tone or sustain. IMHO. But a Babicz looks nice and is better for palm muting than a bridge with sharp grub screws, purely because it won't shred your hand. -
If you're getting expenses and you're not actually going to be out of pocket AND you're moving here anyway, I'd say GO FOR IT.

Gig with Hour of the Dog at the Rhythm Factory in London's increasingly trendy Whitechapel, E1 last night... had a few old friends turn up PLUS a couple of new friends, our own Billy Apple (Sean) and Number6 (Paul), so grateful thanks to them... thought I'm not sure if it wasn't mostly due to my 'free drink for basschatters' offer... I didn't think we played as well as we could (isn't that always the way?) but fun was had, which is the main thing, and we got an enthusiastic reception. We were third on the bill out of four bands, and I did feel for the headlining band who played to a mostly empty room as our audience either made for the bar or had to leave as they were relying on public transport... there's a a lot to be said for not headlining at 10:30pm in the middle of the week in London if you're not a 'name' band who people have come to see... My new Marcus Miller V7 proved that it can be used for what I loosely term 'rock' music, though it retains it's mid-growl even when given a lot of low-end heft through a Turbo rig... which I liked a lot, but I'm fairly sure a P bass would be more appropriate for our set. See how I prepare the ground! Thanks to everyone who came and especially to those basschatters who made the effort to come and see us! Hooray! And many thanks to Number6 for his phone pic of yours truly road-testing the V7 and looking slightly bemused, as usual... A recording of the gig was made from the desk, I'll sort out one of the tracks from it and post it later.
I suspect the sound engineers on the BBC are proper sound engineers rather than pop music producers.
Hee hee yes, they probably still wear white coats and are aghast at 'distortion'.

You're right, it says 'bluespunk'. Ew.

Eh? Where does it say that?
Yes I'm definitely more pipe and slippers than rock and roll... Hopefully catch you guys at a weekender
I'll make sure there's an armchair and a newspaper for you...
Actually i'll be "The" punter
Can't you bring a dog, or something? Try and get the numbers up a bit?
Too late for me on a school night unfortunately... up for work at 5.30
Boo! That's not very rock 'n' roll, is it?
I'm going to this tonight... apart from the OP anyone else going?
Just you and me then... better bring a book or something.
Definitely looks like a Ganglion.
That is a ganglion, but it's not a pic of the OP's hand. We need a pic of the OP's hand!! -
Guess the real tester though would be to try swapping basses around, using them on the 'wrong' gigs and see what happens...
Be sure to video the result for a 'bass player at the wrong gig' viral internet sensation. If you wore ladies panties and a short tutu it would definitely help and kill two birds with one stone. Or something.
Thanks for that! Im guessing risk of fire or electrocution of something??
Arcing inside (and outside) your output transformer and possibly valves and valve bases, leading to one or more valves going kaput and fusing the windings in the output transformer causing no (or reduced, or distorted) output. So maybe not that dangerous for you, but certainly dangerous for your valve amp.
