So he turned up with the express intention of stealing something and wasn't in any way interested in joining the band? That's terrible! I've never heard of anything like it before. Perhaps I've led a sheltered life (no, I haven't).
These seem to have a bit of a following on Talkbass as a bass amp. It's pretty much a Marshall Superbass rip-off, so if that's the sound you're after it'll be fine. The hugeness of the box is offputting though - it's 69cm wide, so might look silly on some cabs.
My Schroeder cab is 61cm, so it would protrude 4cm each side... not a deal-breaker for me. I might go for it, if only to test Bugera/Behringer's negative reliability reputation.

Well now I've got it into my head to get one of these... 100W (loud enough) 22kg (light enough - for an all-valve amp) and £275 (cheap enough). Yes I know it's ostensibly a guitar amp, but that doesn't bother me... and it'll have Thomann's 3-year warranty...
Thankfully I'm mature enough not to be too bothered about it, but I thought I'd share it all the same...
Thank you. Nothing overly shameful about this, imho... I've seen a lot worse.
I sort of like this. A touch to much strange wailing. Cool all the same.
Thing is, for the last year or so I've been in a band with the drummer, the singer and the guitarist from back then. The singer and drummer I hadn't seen for 25 years, so it's a bit of a weird one to be honest. The strange wailer doesn't do quite so much strange wailing now. You would have expected us all to have improved a bit over the intervening 36 years, wouldn't you? But we haven't.
'Liking or 'not liking' them is such an irrelevance it's probably easier just to like them...
+1 They are are fundamental force of nature, much like the weather.
It's a thin line between moron and cretin but many of us straddle it with panache and élan.
Don't forget aplomb. You gotta have aplomb.

Yes, there exists some ridiculous post-punk stuff from 1979 which found its way onto YouTube. So this is how the 19-year-old me played bass. I like to think I've improved since then...
dont do it, WD40 will attract dust to your pot like fly`s round a honey pot, use circuit board cleaner.
This - WD40 is remarkable stuff but is a magnet to clag and goit. I use Servisol Super 10.

Just for a bit of balance, perhaps it's telling that the Marcus Miller V7 5-stringers are sold out at Thomann, wherease there are still 4-stringers available... and when I played Grand Wazoo's five-string Super J at his place a while back (fanned frets) I thought it worked well. But I'm happier with a four. Possibly because I've been playing one for decades. I will use a fiver when recording, if necessary. Live not so much. If you're a jobbing player I have no doubt it's essential to have one in your arsenal... ...so at least you can say 'yes' when the question is inevitably asked...

Maybe it was a sign from the LORD, who obviously thinks you should be playing a Spector, which is the one true bass. Seriously though, I've no idea. Metal fatigue..? Good job you had a spare handy.

It still holds up really well. Branson's Virgin empire was pretty much built on that one record. It got loads of airplay because the piano intro was used on the soundtrack for The Exorcist which was released the same year (1973) when Oldfield was 19. At a time when there was a lot of well cheesy pop in the charts it was a sign of independent intellectualism, good musical taste and ultimate progressive cool to be seen with a copy of that album under your arm.
What I meant was that now the first lot have practically sold out they may find they need to ramp up production, and they might have to cut some of the love and attention the first lot had, just to keep up with demand.
Ah, I get it. Well we can only wait and see what happens. Perhaps a good excuse to buy another, to see if there's any difference... -
It just seemed poor, the fretboard wood was very cheap looking.
Hmm... maybe that explains the price, then? -
Let's hope they can keep up the quality without cutting corners.
Don't see why not if they're already geared up for it. I'd hope for an improvement if anything. What we don't want to see is a price hike, but as that's obviously a huge selling point... apparently there are still stocks of the white ash/maple 4, the white alder/rosewood 4 and the black alder/rosewood 4. Mind you, Thomann's stock availability indicator isn't always 100% reliable, I've found. -
I think it has a bright future as part of an artificial reef in the Pacific.
its a Fender.
Finally, a balanced and sensible viewpoint! -
A 'heft' pedal..? I'd buy that. The Tech-21 VT Bass series is the closest I've used, but there's definitely a niche in that market.
