1.
...it seems a really weird idea to video yourself doing something and then put it on the net. I have the same concerns with people reporting their every moment on facebook. To me it seems very sad, almost as if these people need to do these things to make themselves feel OK about themselves, or to justify their existence.
Which is why I hate Twitter and Facebook et al with a passion. It's a total waste of time... in a way that Basschat is not, of course.
 2.
I dont want to get battered anyway!
It's OK, I don't have big mussels.
 3.
But then where's your excuse for buying new stuff?
Nobody said anything about not buying new stuff!! *Rushes off to Basses For Sale - for the tenth time today*
 4.
Irrespective of how good or otherwise she is - I just love that tone. How do you get that?
By not endlessly agonising over your tone.
 5. I agree, this really isn't the plaice for it.
 6.
I sea you have moved onto fish puns, and on a bass forum, terrible.
Yes, the whiting's on the wall.
 7.
I think I must be the only person in the universe who doesn't like Stevie Wonder.
No, you are not.
 8.
Another sexist comment, you need to use a word that covers witch and warlock really.
Burn the loony!
 9.
...after much consideration I ordered the antique white!
That would be the discerning and tasteful choice, nicely done.
 10.
Surely the first question is pretty important??
Nah, it's a given. Who wouldn't want to join a psychedelic rock band?
 11.
I wouldn't go on it though, too shy
Me neither - too sh!t.
 12.
I'm now thinking of selling it to finance a Limelight.
If you do, you won't regret it.
 13.
I wasn't being shy, I was just being sh*t...
What a great idea for a programme - Shy or Shlt? Hosted by Bruce Forsythe and Christina Aguilera. TV gold!
 14.
Please hold the line guys, this is getting more attention than the OP's topic.
Yes, we'd better strike camp...
 15. I need to re-assemble a Squier bass tuner... but there are two bits I'm not sure about. There's a metal plate with a hole in it for the string post to go through, and another exactly the same but made from clear plastic. Which way round do they go and in which order? I thank you! I suppose I could take one of the other tuners apart to find out, but I'm afeared of compounding the felony... I thank you again!
 16.
Not sure which of us was doing the time wasting on that one
You were both guilty of loitering within tent.
 17. I can understand a CIJ being similar to a USA in price (second hand at least) but I don't understand why a MIM would command USA prices. But as you say there are good ones and dogs whether MIM, CIJ or USA, so I suppose you have to judge them on their individual merits.
 18.
It's always better to have the argument over why you're not playing 8th root notes under everything before you go into the studio, than to find out afterwards your entire input was rerecorded by the guitarist a few days later.
Our guitarist could never do that, but I take your point.
 19.
Here it is all cleaned up, reassembled & restrung:
Like it. Ohh... now I've got GAS for a white one...
 20.
Quite often after a recording someone will say "I never noticed that the bass played that."
That's because they never bloody listen to it!
 21.
I love the deep chunky neck on my 78 Precision, it makes me work harder and I find playing it more enjoyable because of this.
Good point Lozz. I favour a medium/high action for the same reason... note choice becomes more important and if a string has room to vibrate, it sounds better. IMHO.
 22. Seems like chunky necks are not generally popular, but after I go back to one after yet another foray into Jazz country, it feels like coming home...
 23. Would help a lot if you could post some decent pics of it?
 24.
If someone is struggling to really nail something and getting stressed about it; get them to go for a walk in the fresh air. Five minutes "wasted" could save half an hour of constantly re - taking the same part.
Yes, that's a good one. And if your band knows they'll be recording in say, a month's time, it's useful to do a few rehearsals and record them in their entirety so you get used to being recorded constantly. The helps reduce 'red light anxiety' when you get in the studio.
