1.
Well, obviously it is my opinion. Aren't internet forums made for expressing your opinions and discussion?
NO! They're for expressing your OPINION as FACT!! And NO JOKES are allowed, EITHER!
 2.
As a precaution in case the carrier bag comes off while you're playing, be sure to put a paper bag over your own head as well.
Just put a paper bag over everybody's head, play a recording of some nice music and have a crafty Sherman.
 3.
That Spector is missing a saddle for the G... how difficult are they to source?
Not difficult. But if it's a Performer or a Legend it's not much of a bargain, really. The pics on this site are uniformly bloody awful, aren't they!? They'd see at least a 100% improvement in sales with some decent pics. Looks like they've been taken by an employee in the shop on their phone. And very badly at that.
 4.
Wow, what a lovely bass. It was only a quick unbox and twang as im at work, but a quick look over it and it seems to be finished to a very high standard (except the truss rod cavity). It reminds me a lot of my Lakland basses.
Gah! The GAS is building up...
 5.
Which one is Nigel..?
He's the one who looks like Zoot from The Muppets.
 6.
What's going on here? I started this thread because I am genuinely dazed and confused about what to do next with my bass-playing, not because I wanted to engage in a public debate about whether I'm "an insufferable ballache". Yeah, I saw Roland Rock's ( ) but still wasn't sure how to take his remark. Then, Discreet says "[devilsavocado] Well... it may be true!" FFS.
I'm quite sure no-one seriously believes you to be an insufferable ball-ache, Steve. You ask a question on a forum, you'll get serious replies. You'll also get non-serious replies. It's up to you to decide which are of use. My two-pence worth is in post #6 and I that's the best advice I can give you, given my experience of being in bands. But your mileage (and everyone else's) may vary...
 7.
I love rehearsals, I hang out with my mates, we play music, then go to the pub. What's not to like?
Cirrhosis.
 8.
...no painted necks for me
Given the choice I always prefer a big handful of naked wood. ...Oh dear.
 9. Sell your B3 and buy a B1on or B1Xon. Solve your problem and you'll be quids in, too. http://www.zoom.co.jp/products/b1on
 10.
We need some sore of masonic signal to identify fellow BCers, the traditional rolled up trouser leg perhaps?
What about our big bandaged thumbs - from the frenzied slapping that everyone does all the time?
 11.
...depends on the paint used but I've played "sticky" feeling necks and know what you mean but my shuker neck is really easy to play
As is my Spector neck. Very smooth indeed.
 12.
@ Roland Rock, post no. 2. Can't work out whether that's a serious comment or not. Either way, it's not very helpful, is it?
[devilsavocado] Well... it may be true! And he did put a ( ) after the comment... [/devilsavocado]
 13.
...a dedicated singer in most bands is a trouble-causing passenger with an ego the size of Jupiter...
Yes, and is generally also a paranoid, mentally-ill sociopath with narcissism issues.
 14.
...in a few weeks I might send it off to them to have it replaced.
I wouldn't bother. It could pick up worse in the process. I'd count that as its first ding and relax!
 15.
Endless rehearsing really winds me up and means the end for a lot of bands. All the expense and monotony and no gigs!
This, plus a billion. I've wasted so much time being strung along by otherwise brilliant bands who talk the talk, but in reality have no intention whatsoever of doing regular gigs and see rehearsal as a weekly social event. Not only a waste of my time, but their talent, too. No more!
Band 1; Singer sacked, band split. Band 2; Singer not very good, band split. Band 3; Singer left to concentrate on lounge/jazz stuff. Band 4; Singer's gone AWOL to sort out her marriage.
I'm beginning to see a pattern emerging here...
What on earth do I do now?
Get on BandMix, Starnow, Join My Band and all the other online places. Go to jam nights and open mic nights. Go and see local bands, get on the scene. See what attracts you, organise as many auditions as you possibly can. Most of the music sites can be filtered for local results. It's a numbers game - the more you get out there and see what's about and the more auditions you do, the more confident you will become and the more likely it is you will find talented, committed, like-minded people who want to get on with it and not waste your valuable time.
 16.
Cheers, Me too! But there is a bit of me prepared for something weird to happen like him getting abducted by aliens on his way to practice or something like that!
Pray it's not a Spinal Tap situation...
 17.
Get a room you two... You're making me feel nauseous with all the flirting.
See, now that IS offensive.
 18. I'm sure you'll be fine! But are the rest of your band up to it??
 19.
well you wait ages for a drummer then two come along at once. Two replied to an old add from ages ago that I'd forgot about and one is someone i went to music college with in the 90's who was incredible back then. Haven't seen him for 15 yrs but am proper excited as he is class and a top guy.
Brilliant. So this thread was Kismet, or Karma, or Coincidence, or some such crap! I hope he's a fantastic drummer and it all works out for you.
 20.
You... you... you... Fender player..!
Well that'll probably do it... even though I don't have a Fender at the moment. Mind you, that's going to change soon, so I'll let you know. And anyway I'm digressing horribly in the voting thread - sorry folks!
 21.
I'm sorry. I wouldn't want to unwittingly cause offence...
No apology necessary! You'd really have to be going some to offend me, Dad.
 22.
It's simply for joshing. Leg pulling. You know; light banter, poking innocent fun..? I don't really want to give the impression that you're too discreet on the forum, nor the opposite. It's only a throw-away attempt at gentle humour, OK..?
Relax, Doug - it's me. This [ ] is my shorthand for this [ ]. And yes, It's OK!
 23.
Nice! Is that a mark on the F of Fender though?
It's merely the Fender mojo process at work.
