It's a nice vintage bass and I love the creamy white finish and black guard, but I'd rather spend the money on something else.
I've just started rehearsing with a second band whose whole mission is to play songs "from one of those Father's Day CDs" We'll see what transpires.
Better hold off on the e's and wizz until you see the set list.
yeah ignore the 1600w thing, thats rubbish lol. It puts out 924w at 4 ohms.
Aw, 'only' 924W? Pathetic!
Yes, it is good fun. Some one asked me if we had any CDs...!
Well that's the next stage, do some recording, design some t-shirts and get your merch stall sorted out! You're not going to make a living just from gig money! You have to diversify!
hows that? lol
Yes, it's a beast!
Haha, this thread needs pics and a demo vid!
And a soundproof concrete bunker, apparently.
oh crap sorry lol
Heh. Phone pics will do until you can get your Nikon out and do a proper job.

Hooray! Sounds like you've got the taste already.

It's a bit of a balancing act, but what I do is have the Blend and Level set on the pedal and the Gain set just so on the amp so that the volume appears to be the same when the pedal is on or off, only you get a bit of grit from the gain when the extra signal from the pedal pushes it over into distortion. You can do much the same thing by setting the Gain where you want it for distortion and backing off your volume control on the bass a little so it's cleaner - then whacking the volume control up full for the grit when you want it. Then you don't have to buy a pedal... It's a bit trial and error from the point of view of not having too much of a volume increase, but once you've figured it out, that's it. The key is setting the Gain at exactly the right point so it's acceptably clean when you want it to be, yet doesn't take too much extra signal to push it over. The joy of the Streamliner is you can set your Gain and Volume just so and use the Master for overall control of the level. I don't know why more amps don't have Gain > Volume > Master, but they don't!
-
I do just this... set everything up so that the gain is pushed over the edge when you stomp on the pedal. I was using an M80 which has a separate disto channel, but a BDI-21 pushes it just as well and is a lot cheaper, too.
Last one I had was on a white precision in the early 80s, looked like an anaemic ghost!
I don't think you can beat white and maple. Especially Creamy Olympic White and Aged Maple... preferably with a black pickguard.

will there ever be another music sub-culture?
...the EDM scene is massive.
Extremely Dangerous Marxism? Elephant Dung Missiles? Esoteric Duelling Mannikins? Electronic Dance Music? -
Hmm, nice... of course the law states that LPB with white guard must be a rosewood board, but I must admit there's something faintly pervy and erotic about a maple board instead. So I'm prepared to let you off this time if you post a proper NBD thread.
Yes, I am always on the lookout for an all-valve head no more than 19in wide - the width of my Barefaced cabs! The Selmer T'n'B is barely wider (mine is only 50W), and those Trace valve heads are also about the right size but with only a graphic for tone control.
You need a Burman MPA and SL100 Powerpak! http://basschat.co.u...sl100-powerpak/ Weight in thread is inaccurate - it's only 35kg in total.
Them young 'uns and their sub cultures!! They don't even know they're born, half of 'em
That's right. Dad-Rock endures!
It seems now that the bigger 'booty' you have and the more you shake it on your music video, the more records you sell.
What records? Anyway my 'booty' is massive and I shake it all the time. Hasn't done me any favours. I've got giant bangers, too... still no good. -
Nice stringing skills at the headstock, though! I'm always impressed by proper attention to detail.

Well of course you're just making this up - unless you post some pics! You know the rules!
Think that already happened in the 80's.
Ah... I don't remember too much about the 80s. Or the 70s. The 60s are a bit vague, too... ...in fact I haven't a clue what's going on half the time.

Strings... nickel/steel. I never realised I was a "steel guy"!
discreet replied to mcnach's topic in General Discussion
I'm totally over the moon with the Fender Flats, 9050ML.
Currently got these on my Jazz Deluxe IV. Such a difference over the strings it came with. They're very affordable, too. Agree with the above, a set of strings that suit you can make all the difference. As far as rounds go, I generally prefer nickels or nickel-plated purely because I find steels shred my fingers too much. -
I can get firewood cheaper than that! From a petrol station!
