1. Well I think it does no harm to get out there regardless. You might embarrass yourself but nobody's going to die and it is by far the quickest way to improve. Isn't that what punk was all about? Anyone can pick up an instrument and have a go?
 2.
In at the deep end. You'll learn so much.

It's never too soon to get into a band and start gigging.

Just get out there and do it.
I think a pattern is emerging... one that I agree with. When I joined my first band I couldn't play bass at all. In fact, I didn't even have a bass or any means to get one. It didn't seem to matter much, it all worked out in the end.
 3.
Not that I am aware of. This Kustom amp got a lot of positive comment on TB so I went searching and muziker.de was the only place I could find one, but I am more than pleased . I use this amp together with a Berg CN212 playing in a rock covers band and it really rocks my boat.
Hmm... thanks for that.
 4.
The Kustom KXB500 is the best micro I have used. Highly recommended and cheap as chips.
That's interesting... I'll go and have a look at it. Edit: Is there anywhere in the UK it can be got from?
 5.
I'm not sure I understand your sentence re my band, but Welsh Floyd rock
Well yes, that's what I meant.
 6.
Absolutely shameless. tut tut
Well it is, really. Couldn't resist. No-one reads the Gigs forum anyway!
 7.
Where and when?☺
http://basschat.co.u...ri-27-feb-2015/ Due to a bizarre coincidence I may even be playing with two bands that night. Apologies to all, I didn't mean to make this an extension of the gigs forum! As you were, etc. etc.
Chuffed for you Discreet! X
Thank you Madam Moderator... I hear your Pink Floyd tribute band carries all before it!!
 8. I'm playing in Denmark Street in central London this month... ...and have thus failed to understand the whole point of the thread.
 9. The Fusion is more than worth the extra cash. It's immense and you will have total control of your mids and then some.
 10.
...the whole tour (it's only 5 days).
Ah well, if it's only 5 days you should be OK. In that case, just take ten pairs of new M&S Y-Fronts and a 40-pack of 50mg Tramadol and you'll be fine.
 11. Take clean pants - WAY more clean pants than you think you'll ever need. Keep them dry in a separate case or bag close to hand. And take a LOT of high-quality, prescription-grade painkillers with you. When it goes tits-up and you're wondering why the hell you ever entertained the idea of going on tour, a few of these help you much better than a skinful of booze, which will make you punchy and depressed. Remember the two 'P's - Pants and Painkillers. That's all you need. Listen to your uncle discreet!
 12.
I've just seen a guy carrying a Squier Jazz - no case or bag - on the platform at Denmark Hill. Except to note that my phone tried to correct Squier to Squirt.
Outstanding! There's nothing like a lovely naked Squirt in public.
 13. This looks great, very unusual. Have a bump...
 14.
...a US label has agreed to distribute my band's second album (when it's finally finished) over there. I reckon that's a bit of result.
So do I, well done.
 15. It's a very nice and increasingly rare cab. Hang on to it! Looks good with the Burman on top. Like the monolith from '2001...'
 16. As far as punters are concerned they have not the slightest clue. Most of 'em can't tell the difference between a bass and a guitar at two paces, let alone what type/brand it is. And anyway, by the time they engage you in conversation they're likely to be, er... 'not at their best'. I don't care if another bass player mocks my bass, either. If he doesn't understand that a *insert name of budget or unusual brand* can be a good sounding, playable bass then what kind of bass player is he anyway!? The half-witted, suppurating pile of pus!
 17. Everyone should have one of these in their gig bag. Very much like a SansAmp and for the price of an hour or two down the pub.
 18.
White Blonde. It's the law
This time I agree. You haven't taken a 'good taste' pill, have you?
 19. Well this is a lovely bargain! Shame I'm a bit too far away.
 20.
Looks like a cracking bass for the cash! I love the scratchplate as well. Looks kind of boutique-y!
Thanks Dave... it does a bit. I could remove the Squier logo and write something illegible with a Sharpie - that would do it.
 21.
Shame it's a cheap & nasty plywood body.
Just like those Ritter ones.
 22. No, but they're handy for carrying and certainly make the bass lighter.
