  1. That's annoying. Because then you'd be sorted. Apart from a refinish in white, of course.
  2. Quite. I only have to look at Gumtree or Join My Band and my flake-o-meter is clicking away like a Geiger counter next to some Polonium.
  3. Not if I'm involved and they've already told me that they're definitely NOT "flakes".
  4. You can say 'bollocks' and 'shitty'. But that's about it.
  5. I'm reminded of an exchange in the House of Commons where an MP said, 'I'm a country member,' to which came the reply, 'We are not likely to forget...'
  6. Um... more or less, I can't remember. What I do know is, I should have kept it. Duh.
  7. *SOLD* Herrick Tele '51' Bass Neo Single Coil Pickup *Price Drop £40* Very nice-sounding upgrade for your 51/54-Type Precision. I'm fitting a Jess Loureiro dual-coil job, so this is now surplus to requirements. You can get some idea of what it sounds like here. These are £60 new, I'm after £40 to include packing and postage to your dwelling. Spec and so forth is here. This is the neodymium version, sounds huge. NOW SOLD. I thank you!
  8. *SOLD* Squier VM Two-saddle 51/54-Type Through-Bridge *Price Drop £25* A four-string vintage-style bridge, ideal for your 51/54-type Precision project. Two brass saddles with slots. Three-hole mounting and four through-body string holes. Not easy to find in the UK, so I imported this from the USA - I'd like £25, which includes packing and postage to your atelier. NOW SOLD. I thank you!
  9. Agree absolutely. Whichever bass I play through whichever amp, I sound more or less the same... so my choice of bass comes down to ease of playing, balance on the strap and cosmetics. Because I'm shallow.
  10. I think you have to call it Lieutenant Uhura now, or something.
  11. I would add, that in my humble opinion, playing bass thirteen to the dozen is highly overrated and probably means you're playing way too much. Except for that weird type of metal where everyone plays so fast they must surely be at risk of cardiac arrest, the name of which escapes me at the moment. Stroke metal?
  12. Comments like that really boil my goat. (I've moved onto mixed metaphors now).
  13. Been a pick player for decades but recently (four or five years ago) started playing fingerstyle, and now I do whatever is best for the song. I find the pick gives me a lot of control and finesse, but so does fingerstyle. My muting is better with a pick. You don't have to have a clicky, percussive sound if you play pick, you can EQ so that it sounds pretty much however you want on the attack. Type of strings makes a difference too, obviously.
  14. eBay and PayPal suck giant heaving whale dong. I'll use them, but only for low-value items. These companies are hopeless shipwrecks that do little to stem the tide of flotsam who use them to exploit us. These nautical references doing it for you?
  15. Of course. Everyone would just assume it's a Harley Benton with a Fender Decal on it. 😁
  16. If you check my feedback you'll see I've done a lot of buying and selling over the eight or nine years I've been a member here - and I haven't experienced a single problem. Yes, it could be pure luck. Or maybe this is a just great place to buy and sell.
  17. Had one and stupidly sold it. This is a LOT of bass for £234. 7.25" radius board, too.
  18. Not eBay, but quite wonderful... https://www.bax-shop.co.uk/right-handed-bass-guitar/sire-marcus-miller-v3-tobacco-sunburst-4-string-bass-guitar?sku=9000-0042-6712&utm_term=&utm_source=nieuwsbrief&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2018-06-06_NB_Week23_UK
  19. There are more than a few well-known pro bass players in that boat, so I wouldn't let it bother you too much.
  20. Off the top of my head I thought it was 1987. Dammit, now I'm going to have to find out...
  21. Which begs the question... why have a more expensive instrument? What's the point if you're only going to play it at home or use it for recording? OK, a good recording bass is a thing of beauty to the ear of the beholder, but you know what I mean. And I don't include buying premium basses as a collector or investor, just to nip that in the bud...
