  1. Please God, no keys players. Let BassChat be for bass players! And no drummers, either. Unless it's Dave Mattacks or Steve Gadd...
  2. I'm using Chrome on Windows Bloody Vista, so that makes a lot of sense. Thanks.
  3. It's a bit 'control freak' if you ask me, but then it's not my forum. And I get most things off my chest by wandering about in the nude, shouting at traffic. However the idea that one shouldn't use certain words in the English language (also known as 'swearing') because it might offend teenagers is frankly risible. Most teenagers I come into contact with (including my son) swear freely at all times and have quite an impressive vocabulary of the profane...
  4. I'm totally offended by this blatant and perverted post about what someone does in their private life!
  5. Yes, I noticed them... thought something weird was going on - as you say, they're the same ones I have on my phone... but I can't see them viewing the site on my desktop PC, they just appear as two parallel horizontal lines...
  6. You mean... talking about 'Jazz' is forbidden..? Good.
  7. I'm not seeing the new emojis - could it be a problem at my end..?
  8. Two-saddle P Bass bridges! I'm done with 'em! They look 'authentic' but really the action and intonation adjustments are always a compromise. You can see why Leo went for the four-saddle job in 1957! Fitted a Fender Am Deluxe four-saddle variant instead and it's a different bass entirely. Peace out!!

Must be in the fingers then..but not mine. I do have mini sponges glued onto my finger tips for most gigs. Seriously, not noticed any huge intonation issues though my Pitch Black tuner is getting dusty and I just use a clip-on.

If discreet had said that I'd have been sure it was some sort of euphemism...

@hiram.k.hackenbacker The work of two minutes with Superglue and cocktail sticks - and a couple of seconds worth of electric drill. Done!

  9. I'm sorry, but that's a load of bollocks.
  10. Sold my Trace combo to John in a typical dodgy BC lay-by transaction just off the M4... all good, great comms. Enjoy the Trace! Thanks!
  11. Yes, but the OP would be unable to cash in due to death. I can't help but feel we're drifting away from the topic a little, here...
  12. What a bass and what a location. Do you live in the eighteenth century, by any chance..?
  13. Wow, this is quite inspirational. I'm going to have a go - just so I can say 'I've got wood'. Wakka wakka!
  14. These can be got cheap, but £44 is a real steal. They are great amps, too. Mucho HEFT! In all possible ways.
  15. I'm guessing that will be around 8-1/2lbs. The first pic looks a lot like my RW Fiesta Red P, but obviously it's redder and more metallic-y than that. Really nice bass, I can just imagine how it plays and sounds. Limelight GAS! Again!!
  16. My pedantry!? Bwa-ha-ha-haaaah!!! Let's go back to basics. The title of this thread is, 'Finish - Is It Important?' To which my answer is, 'No, it isn't'. I'm done.
  17. I'll certainly post some A/B examples of series and parallel switching. When I can get the thing installed. Which means it has to be delivered, first!
  18. Er... clearly you can't say that your opinion would be supported scientifically until it has actually been supported scientifically. Which, as far as I know, it has not. It is still just your opinion. But if any actual 'science' has been done, I'd be happy to see a link. On the 'chronology' point, what I meant was that pickup design and placement has much more bearing on tone than neck and body 'resonance'.
  19. Either it's your opinion or it's scientifically sensible... Claiming body wood or finish affects tone is extraordinary in my view, so I'll need to see some extraordinary evidence to support that view before I change my mind. I've certainly never heard any difference in tone after refinishing a bass. Saying body and neck resonance comes before pickup choice and placement in the production of tone is risible. Simply changing strings will have a much more pronounced effect on tone than any wood or finish choice. In my humble opinion. Which in this case I'm posting as fact.
  20. He didn't have much fun on Patti Smith's debut either, if I remember rightly.
  21. It's still better than a Wishbass. *Runs for cover*
