  1. It's a good look and no mistake, but I'm probably the wrong one to ask as I'm a bit of a tort perve. I really only like original early 60s to mid 70s tort OR Spitfire Tort, which costs quite a bit. Hence the mint green suggestion. The mint-black-mint 3-ply guard looks really good with aged white (such as old oly white et al) and there are various shades of it. It's not too spendy either. http://r.ebay.com/RrceGn
  2. I've just found a 1966 Florin down the back of the sofa if anyone wants it.

@Marvin I've just got three payments to go, then it's mine!

    3. TheGreek

      TheGreek

I acquired some Greek coins which I'd hoped to use on the knobs of my Psilos bass. Unfortunately none are my YOB.

Now that would be a great plectrum for my '66 Slab Precision!  A bit of British history on both counts.

  3. I don't know either, I'm taking the p*ss as I've got too much time on my hands.
  4. +1 Swearing is only effective if it's used sparingly. In certain genres it isn't, and just becomes tiring and pointless. I feel one should be able to deliver totally devastating lyrics without it, but of course that takes a bit of thought. F*CK Y'ALL, B*TCHES!!
  5. Gold is good, but better with maple. Tort is only good if it's good tort, which it won't be unless you spend proper money. In my humble view (as arbiter of good taste for the entire forum) - a very fine choice would be mint green. I HAVE SPOKEN!!

  7. ...thank you for your circular.
  8. Yes. Good job it's all in the fingers.

  11. *SOLD* OBBM Speaker Cable 45cm, RA Speakon £16 Inc Do you really need a one-metre speaker cable, or longer? This 45cm (17-3/4") OBBM Rock-Wire cable may well be enough and saves space on tight stages due to its RA (right angled) Speakon. The other end has a straight Speakon. Cable is high-capacity 4mm Klotz. I'm after £16 which includes postage to your atelier. Payment via bank transfer, please. Feedback in my sig. Now SOLD. I thank you!
  12. Me too... another point about Paulownia is that it's very resonant. I like basses that sound good and have a certain amount of presence when unamplified, i.e played acoustically. I want to make a Paulownia P Bass next. If it can bring the thunder and weigh between 6 and 7 pounds, my long bass guitar quest will be over.
  13. Paulownia is quite fragile in its raw state, but when you get some finish on there to protect it, it's fine. Also I've not had any problems with screws pulling out and I don't expect any. My Jazz has been strung for months now with zero issues and I've swapped bridges twice using the same screws.
  14. The biggest hurdle is not being able to play upright bass. I have tried, but it gave me an achy-breaky pelvis.
  15. Heh. I love Andy whatsisname's bass lines but I was playing All Right Now in a covers band in 1974 and nothing could persuade me to play it these days.
  16. It's only fair I suppose. When I was a teenager, I thought anyone over 25 was finished and anyone over 35 may as well be dead!
  17. I wouldn't worry too much about it, even though it really is all your fault.
  18. Erm... I don't think @steantval is having trouble with female vocalists per se. That's implying a situation which may not exist and also implying that he and his band have a problem with women in general, which clearly isn't the case. Maybe I read it wrong, but it seems to me he's saying a female voice just isn't suitable for the genre of music his band is playing. Which is fair enough. You wouldn't entertain the idea of a male singer for a Tina Turner tribute, would you..? Though come to think of it, that would certainly get you noticed...
  19. It's probably the beard, notebook and couch.
