  1. For 34" scale I measure 35" to the bridge retaining screws. Do you do it sitting down, or standing up with a strap on?
  2. Hmm... in that case I feel fortunate that I haven't had one. Yet.
  3. Some flats are better than others through-body. I have 9050s through body and they are very stressed at the bridge saddlles and back plate. I have ordered some La Bellas that have specifically been made for through-body stringing. If you have the option I'd always recommend top loading with flats.
  4. Although not mentioned, 9050 are really good flats. But they need proper breaking in to do them justice. They're quite toppy at first but this gives way to more thump as time goes on. Worth waiting for. I'd advise top loading. Now then, back on topic..?
  5. Great idea. It also really confuses people when they borrow your amp - they sound terrible! Bonus.
  6. But only when you're feeling flush. Wakka! Wakka!
  7. That's no gap. As said above, once finish is applied that will be snug.
  8. What things? I said 'church' and someone else said 'shadow cabinet'. Where's the problem?
  9. Draw a penis on your face to make people think you fell asleep at a party.
  10. Yes. I'd love a 1960 P Bass, but at the end of the day it's just a P Bass - wood and wire. I know I'd worry about taking it to gigs, and to me there's little point in keeping it for home use. And to be frank I can't afford to have that much cash tied up in a bass guitar. Same goes for Ritter. I admire the designs but I'd look like even more of a tool playing one than I already do playing a P Bass...
  11. Tsk! Lidl customers have NO taste.
  12. What's the neighbour's wife's clothes rail doing in your house? Asking for a friend.
  13. Great post, but in my experience it often really is the drummer's fault.
  14. Absolutely. And not transfer perceived 'faults' with our sound to our gear and realise our 'problems' could well be 'solved' by means other than by buying stuff.
  15. Not simples really, because you don't necessarily know if a smile is forthcoming. You may think a smile is definitely on the cards, but a few weeks down the road, and BAM! ...Herpes.
  16. Yes, all good if it does, but it's not always the case. The search for happiness can sometimes lead to happiness disappearing over the horizon...
  17. Ah yes, just the 70 then... I demand a recount!
  18. Nothing wrong with that Gary, but... five hundred basses?? Come on!!
  19. Well you gotta have a Jazz, even if you don't like 'em. Everyone has a Jazz. And you have to have a bass with rounds, and one with flats. And an active to go with your passive... and upgrade the preamp. And...
  20. That could be true. I often justify purchases on the grounds that my bass playing is heavenly. ...and afterwards find out it isn't. But I knew that anyway! Self-delusion is powerful.
  21. It wasn't the jack-hole, it was the shocking state of your curtains. Do you never wash them??
  22. I've already got a little pony. That's what the smell is.
  23. The end result can be the same - or better, as you're effectively customising a bass to your specific needs. HOWEVER, my cheap-yet-modded bass isn't enough! I have terrible GAS - for ANOTHER cheap-yet-modded bass, but with better and more expensive mods!! IS THERE NO END TO IT??
  24. Good Lord. We will need to see a LOT of pics. Close-ups, jack-hole shots... the lot.
