  1. Wow, what a great score! I never find things like this. Those people who buy a bit of tat from a car boot sale for 50p and find out it's a ming dildo worth £250,000 really get on my nerves!!
  2. That's probably about right. IMHO it's a casserole of nonsense and I'd walk, but there it is.
  3. Maybe Fender think the black grille fits in more with the hi-tech vibe. The sparkly grille is more in keeping with the vintage look (and sound).
  4. It'll be fine. If I can do it I'm sure you can.
  5. We'll need pics and more pics!
  6. Thanks. No issues with the Paulownia. Though I would suggest a clear coat of something tough to protect it. Any perceived negatives are worth it for the extreme light weight. I did need to grain fill the body - paulownia is a very grainy and porous wood.
  7. No worries... you just need a key for the new paint. Whether you use matte, satin or gloss is down to what the original finish is like, what effect you're going for and... personal preference.
  8. Yes it's easy. Especially if you've spray painted before. Just remove the pick guard (obviously), then rough up the surface with a Scotchbrite pad or similar (don't forget edges). Then apply a very thin, light coat and let it dry fully. Then apply two or three heavier coats, let dry between coats. Make sure you cover the edges with paint. Done. I use acrylic rattle-can colours such as Canbrush. About £9 from the usual sources. Hope this helps.
  9. Damn, that's just the sort of ballache I don't like!
  10. Yes! Maybe an Ampeg logo would look better?
  11. It's got an LCD screen! Kind of a weird fit with Fender's 'classic amp' vibe... and it's 17.7kg! That's more than half the weight of an Ampeg SVT-CL!
  12. I (belatedly) saw what you did there...
  13. That's not very rock 'n' roll, is it..?
  14. Christ, that's borderline stalking.
  15. Just play it down the phone then ask GCHQ for a copy...
  16. Holy mother of God! You can't possibly need all three! Can I have the V4, please?
  17. Very good. Will there be sound clips?
  18. Yes... welcome to BassChat's profanity filter, toddler version. Annoying, no? You can still say 'stupid bar stewards', though.
  19. I had the 500w combo, best rig I've had. Light, loud and sounded great. Regret selling it. Been looking at the 100w combo, glad to see you rate it.
  20. Great, thanks very much. Funny AND useful.
  21. Keep it in the house and hide it in plain sight. Put it next to the sofa with a cloth over it, tell her indoors it's a new table. She'll be delighted. I kept a half-finished cab in the conservatory for ages with a table lamp on it, she didn't notice it for years...
  22. Great idea. You could also playfully slap them round the face as well - to see if they're violent. If they are, go straight to A&E. And don't join.
  23. Joined a band. At a gig the singer called out a number and the band played it. Thing is, I hadn't learnt it - because I'd never heard it before, we hadn't rehearsed it, it had never even been previously discussed or put forward. To say I was a bit annoyed is an understatement. I should have walked there and then, because as it turned out this was symptomatic of the singer's attitude towards his band, i.e. no consideration whatsoever given to anyone. It didn't end well, obviously... I avoided my worst nightmare for 40 years (Trying to play a song I don't know in front of an audience) and this idiot made it a reality!!
  24. That's why they call him 'The Boss'.
  25. That looks like Gibson's 'Stratocaster'.
