  1. People now expected to work free shifts in the hope of getting a job: http://bit.ly/2Fb7ih9
  2. Unregulated capitalism demands dirt and peanuts, unfortunately. Supposedly we're a service economy, but this country's inherent 'f*ck you' attitude doesn't really sit too well with it...
  3. ...Or like it, then scamper off and buy it for a few pounds less online...
  4. I don't know what it is. Whenever anyone plays a bass before handing it to me I'm never impressed with their playing. And potentially I'm going to be playing that bass, not them. What do they think, I'm going to ask them to dep for me or something..?
  5. Oops, yes indeed. That is a great finish though and no mistake! Must look into this further...
  6. Why not, just out of interest? I find grain filling and spraying quite satisfying. Therapeutic, even...
  7. +1 I'm no expert but don't think you can apply paint to an oil finish? Happy to be corrected on this...
  8. It took time. I got them roughly in place then gradually massaged them into position while slowly tightening the screws over a day or two. Maybe my headstock was very slightly bigger and my Wilkinsons very slightly smaller!
  9. I managed to get mine on without filing them. It is a very close fit though, admittedly...
  10. I got my Jazz body from the same guy - no earth wire hole to the bridge. BUT, if you're very thorough about shielding the cavities, you don't need it. Even though I have single coils fitted, the bass is just as quiet as if it were earthed.
  11. The Kickass, or at least the one I have, is a five-screw fitting. Would it not be best to replace like for like if you definitely need to replace It?
  12. As far as you like. It also makes a big difference how you hold a pick. Some people hold it by the 'grip' part but for me that allows too much leverage and movement at the business end. I palm mute and hold the pick close to the pointed end allowing a millimetre or two to protrude for plucking the strings (up and down stroke). This allows much more control, consistency and speed (if necessary) and makes it almost impossible to drop the thing.
  13. It's pretty crap I'll admit, but I'm sure these drivers are under great pressure, not only to deliver an undeliverable number of parcels, but to avoid bringing a certain percentage back to base. Hence the packages I keep finding in wheelie bins, on doorstep, in back garden, etc. I can understand it more when it's myHerpes, Yodel, or some other low-rent outfit, but when you pay top dollar for PorcelFarce and they still balls it up, it's very annoying to say the least.
  14. Wow, I can't imagine using a pick thicker than .50! I like to be fairly relaxed about it and let the amp do the work. But when I play fingerstyle I tend to dig in a little bit more... I suppose it's down to what you're used to. Been a pick player since the late 70s and a fingerstyle player for about five years, so...
  15. Is it too late to change your mind? Asking for a friend...
  16. @Lozz196 Lozz, try Herco Gold Flex .50 - I've been using them for decades - could be just the pick you're looking for.
  17. I seem to remember reading that heavy toroidal transformers have something to do with It, but no idea if that's true or not.
  18. Ahhhhhhhh! Groove-ilium!
  19. Thanks for that, very interesting. But why are Trace Elliot SS amps louder than non-TE SS amps..?
  20. I will buy no more! And incidentally, we have a new addition to the household - a lovely little dog! I think he's a Lickapoo.
  21. What do you want me to do? This thread gave me a terrible bout of diarrhoea.
  22. No chance, I necked a family-sized bottle of Imodium this morning.
