  1. The Wall Street Crash must have come as a terrible shock to you.
  2. That may well be true, but I'm definitely seeing a trend towards people choosing to be offended by... well, not very much. That's possibly not an age thing, but a waste-a-mountain-of-time-on-facebook thing. I dont know really - you won't find me spending much time on the internet.
  3. Actually to be fair when I left school in the 70s I was able to get a job that paid enough for me to live independently. I think that would be next to impossible today and I'd probably end up dead in a ditch within a week. It's heartbreaking that young people now have to live with their parents for years on end because they cant afford to move out. It prevents them from becoming true adults, imho. I think that may be part of the problem.
  4. No, less resilient. That's another thing, kids can't spell. What are they teaching them in these schools nowadays??
  5. 'Generation Snowflake, or Snowflake Generation, is a neologistic term used to characterize the young adults of the 2010s as being more prone to taking offence and less resilient than previous generations, or as being too emotionally vulnerable to cope with views that challenge their own. The term is considered derogatory.[1][2] It is one of several informal examples of usage of the word snowflake to refer to people.' Certainly less resilient than previous generations, imho. Which is a shame because given the way things are going, everyone will need to be a lot more resilient - to say the least.
  6. Does this have anything to do with the bruised bananas?
  7. That'll be why I didnt see it, then.
  8. Well excuse me for jumping to conclusions... you surely must be either a fella or s little darlin'... and if you're in a same-sex marriage you're either a pair of little darlin's, or a couple of fellas. Am I wrong?
  9. I bet she's a little darlin', fella...
  10. They also call women 'darlin'' and men 'fella'. And drive Audis.
  11. You're what's known as a 'Slushy Paddington'.
  12. Didn't think much about it until the other night when I fancied playing bass in the dead of night... using thumb allows full sound more quietly than fingerstyle or pick.
  13. It gets worse - you're going to find out how all those bananas got bruised...
  14. Gahhh! It's seen the family jewels!
  15. Yes, in this case 'can' should be read as 'Richard'.
  16. That's just kicking the can down the road. How long will it take for 'marmalade sandwich' to become 'Paddington'?
  17. It may be different for you, but I think my spell checking is handled by my browser, not Basschat.
  18. You really must give that space shuttle back, you know...
  19. I agree - you pedantic mammothrept.
  20. How about changing 'snowflake' to 'ocelot'? Q: How do you titilate an ocelot? A: Oscillate its tits a lot.
  21. This walking-on-eggshells-dont't-offend-anyone stuff isn't very rock 'n' roll, is it? Surely the original intention of rock 'n' roll was to shake people up a bit? Deciding to be offended by decades-old pop lyrics is a middle-class, first-world issue. IMHO, of course.
  22. Quite, that was the appeal for me. When I first got one I plugged in a P Bass, set the EQ completely flat, turned it up and there it was - big, punchy tone - and lots of it. Great combo, even for big rooms.
