  1. Not usually a fan of mocha, or of brown basses in general, but that finish is very lush.
  2. Yeah, go on. GAS-filled minds need to know!
  3. That says it all, really. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.* *Or throw it out of a moving car, that'll really f*** it up.
  4. IMPORTANT: I implied that there may have been a problem with one of OBBMs cables, but I'd like to make it quite clear that there was NOTHING wrong with it and Dave's reputation remains intact!

Good lad for putting the matter to rights.  I've just had another new cable from Dave.  Following your fault finding mission with interest.

You should be on OBBM's payroll. Never bought a lead from him but now I will buy no other! I've been brainwashed. Are you a scientologist?

  5. UPDATE: Sent the lead back to OBBM. He has inspected it and has found that there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. So I'm back to square one, there must be a fault somewhere but I still can't find it! The good news is that OBBM's 100% reputation remains pristine and I apologise profusely to him and all members here for even suggesting that there may have been something wrong with one of his cables!
  6. In retrospect I should have just stuck with it as well. I'd buy another tomorrow but for the usual reason.
  7. Hate to say it, but that situation is like getting a wardrobe up a spiral staircase, it's not going to happen. I'm amazed at how people will blithely ignore simple, practical considerations. Why is it always drummers who don't have proper transport? Why do people happily turn up to a gig with no gear thinking they can use mine? Why will a band accept a 45-minute slot knowing full well they can only play three songs?? Answers on a postcard.
  8. That would explain the Vaseline and the oven-ready chicken. Whoops, I think we may have strayed off-topic...
  9. That was you in the rubber onesie? Nice boobs!
  10. This evening I tapped out Beethoven's 'Fur Elise' on my scrotum with a teaspoon.
  11. Blue with tort... blooargh!!
  12. To make sure the stage is level and the drummer is dribbling from both sides of his mouth.
  13. As a bass player, I don't give anyone playing solo bass a second thought, either.
  14. So... skimming through today's threads we learn that you're probably best off with an old Peavey TNT combo and a used Fender bass. Hooray! Ten years of membership to find the best gear was totally worth It!
  15. Definitely not an issue live, but it could probably do with a service. I tried my BDI-21 into the return, thus bypassing the preamp and the buzz is still there. I don't know much about amps, but I think I read somewhere that this is an issue with TNTs and it's something to do with the power caps? Could be talking out of my bumhole, of course. But you're right, I should probably keep it. The more I play through it the more I don't want to sell it.
  16. Obviously I'm going to join in with the Peavey TNT love - just played through my TNT160 and it sounds brilliant. I originally bought it to gig with a band I was in a while back, as there was another TNT in the rehearsal room and it sounded so effortlessly good with a P Bass, I wanted one. I've recently bought a Trace 7215 300W combo and that's a beast too - looking forward to gigging it in the near future. Incredible value for money! Makes me wonder a little bit about the amount of cash I've spent over the years on new amps and cabs... I'm not even going to attempt to calculate the total, I think it might make me sad...
  17. Tried it plugged directly into the wall and the slight buzz is still apparent. I could easily put up with it, but you might not if your OCD is flaring up. However, having played through the combo for a while I have to say it sounds really fantastic. When I gigged it one time I got comments and compliments... Edit: I might just get it fixed and keep it as my home amp.
  18. Yes, if only some handsome chap had one currently for sale on the forum! Oh, well.
  19. Quite. A Harley Benton PB-50 for around a hundred quid can't be beat - if the first thing you do is put some flats on it. Classic P thump and very playable.
  20. Had a look at the plug and it won't screw closed properly. So I put a different, more robust plug on it, and - nothing, it's the same. Whatever the buzz is, it's not the plug. But it could still be the power outlet. I'm using it with an extension so I'll plug it direct into the wall and see if that makes any difference.
  21. Could well be, my house is an electrical death-trap. Thanks for the info, I'll look into it. I don't think it's serious whatever it is. No doubt someone with more technical knowledge than me (i.e. anyone) would know what it is. The buzz isn't loud and it doesn't get any louder as you turn up the volume. I thought I'd better mention it for clarity, and so on.
  22. [Freud] Ahem. Aeiough! Obviously ein deep-seated early years trow-ma, nein..? [/Freud]
