  1. I can only find a copy of 'Tomb Raider', which looks genuine. But maybe I didn't look carefully enough.
  2. New UK Rotos also have coloured ball ends.
  3. Yes... I wasn't being entirely serious, as usual... you omitted my '' in your quote.
  4. Yes... no such thing as a 'spare' room, really...
  5. I've got a painting of it in my attic... Wait, what?? 20kg?? Bloody hell, I thought it was supposed to be lightweight??
  6. Yes! What is not generally mentioned in threads about 'which is the best amp?' and 'which is the best bass?' is that for the best bass and the best amp (whatever they are) to be really effective, you also have to be a good bass player. Not necessarily a top technician or a top virtuoso - but confidence can go a very long way if coupled with economy, timing and good note choices... IMHO, of course.
  7. I'm 100% certain there have been no instances of fake tombs being sold through this website.
  8. Loving the simplicity and the body colour with the maple board is just great.
  9. Rotosound RB45. Direct to FL Studio via Edirol UA-5 audio interface. No FX apart from 3:1 compression.
  10. So... will it be good for metal??
  11. I think they're right up there with the best regardless of cost. The idea that products can't be any good if they're affordable is strong - and quite wrong.
  12. They were fitted to a new Jazz parts build, so weren't replacements. I didn't have anything to compare them with directly, but when I first plugged the bass in and played it, I just thought, 'Wow'!
  13. I bought the standard ceramic JBX Jazz Entwistles and they're absolutely fantastic. Very warm, but punchy and with lots of articulation. Classic single-coil sound. I think Alan would get a lot more interest if his pups were four times the price and looked like stock Jazz pups... http://www.entwistlepickups.com/assets/JBX dimension drawing.pdf Not sure if the JBXN are the same size as the JBX, though.
  14. A bargain compared with a pre-CBS bass. And if you can find a Road Worn second-hand, it would be rude not to buy it.
  15. The Road Worn has a lot of ageing work, it's not just the paint and the fag burn. The neck is really comfortable and plays like a vintage job. The bass overall is very resonant and the relic work on the hardware is particularly effective. It just feels right, it plays really well and it sounds fabulous. The cosmetic aspects are a red herring really, the RWs are very good indeed and as close as you'll get to get to a genuine early P Bass. Without the expense, obviously.
  16. Yes! Like some sort of mad unwelcome pony, or something.
  17. Just says AW is a jazz singer and songwriter. The 'night' itself is non-specific... you could probably rock up and bang out your Geezer chops, no problem. Edit. I won't be, though.
  18. Basses using 'tonewoods' Expensive pickups (Entwistle are great) 5-string bass Massive rig Wal bass (can't afford one) 1960 Fender (ditto) Fretwrap (pointless) Ashtrays (have one set, just for photographs) Kazoo Comb
  19. Red, white and blue ball-ends are Rotosound. Bronze, red, black and green are D'Addario. I'm guessing they're Rotosound RS55LD Pressure Wound roundwound 45-105.
