Music stands - are they as common as I think?

Val is wearing what is known as a 'light entertainment' jacket. -
Then use diamonds. They last forever.

And the other makes you think you're your own mother with a teapot on your head.

Again... wrong website. *Goes to Cleveland on a steamer... eats pancake in Boston* -
I'm sure I'll agree with you if I can ever get out of this damn mirror...

Yes! Let's hope 1967 is a good one!

Fair comment, I'll check that out when the time comes, thank you. Oh wait, the time has come...

I have to remember where I parked the van, first. Wait... I don't have a van. -

I'm with SteveK in principle. But if I were a jazz guy I'd use a stand, if only to let the audience know that what I'm playing isn't just a load of random old crap I'm making up as I go along. -

I have to learn the songs. I can't have bits of paper, I lose them. If I had a music stand I'd fall over it. -
I'm not hopping for anybody... Thanks for the recommendation Dad, I have no idea about the spec of my desktop Dell PC, it's been pretty stable since I got it in 2008. I know a 10-year-old computer is practically a museum piece these days, so it looks like more expense if I'm to keep up with the digital Joneses... bah!

Aye, there's the rub. There are good examples to be had at different price points, though. But as you already know, the trick is to get out there and play them, which can be easier said than done depending on location, time, etc. Some of the Squier Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe instruments can be very good if you spend time getting the set-up just right, fit your choice of strings and so on. If you're looking for an occasional P hit rather than your 'number one' instrument, they're a great option. The Fender Classic 50s basses are excellent, even more so the Road Worns. Don't be put off that they're Mexican, the Road Worns in particular play as well and sound as good as anything from the US and are a real bargain, particularly if you can pick one up second hand.

May I be the first to suggest the only way to get a gnarly P-Bass sound is with a gnarly P-Bass? Probably not what you wanted to hear. Option 'C'.

I'm still using useless bloody Windows Vista (I know, I know) and Chrome no longer supports it, so I suppose I'll have to get a new OS at some point. Any suggestions? Which is the least crap Windows OS..?

Must be some new meaning of the word 'microscopic' I wasn't aware of. Mods are busy enough as it is. One item per day? Is that the number of 'misdemeanours' you're expecting? How did you arrive at this number? There is no significant gain in not providing a platform for the sale of illegal goods, because no illegal goods are sold here. I have a great idea about how to make 'this' a better place to be, but forum rules preclude my posting it.

Yes, they were written months ago. The dog ate them. They don't exist. They've been heavily edited. We've decided to suspend democracy. Please call me Adolf. I'd have 'em all hanged and pull the lever myself. D. Davis is a tosser. My bum hurts. (Delete as applicable).

Nope.

Ah, OK. Obviously I'm out of the loop having had better things to do today. Thanks for the info. I just couldn't bring myself to read through it all again. UNFOLLOW!! THHHP!!!

This. Obviously a misunderstanding that was cleared up quickly. But the OP is trying to use this ONE example to leverage his own agenda and imply that BC is the world centre for counterfeit bass guitars. Which it clearly is not. He can't provide links to ANY examples of the deliberate sale of fake basses on BC. The OP wants existing rules changed, apparently on a whim and for no good reason. The rules as they stand work perfectly well, have done so for years and patently do not need changing. This is all I have to say, I can't waste another entire day on this rubbish. Worst thread ever. Now I must away and compose my upcoming thread demanding the banning of ads for combos - because I just don't like them.

I've read that one. IIRC, JH told him it happened because he was playing the bass wrongly.

I've read more than one sorry tale of Rics basically falling apart and their CS dept going into full-on denial mode, even blaming the customer for it! To be fair I've never owned one, but the few I have played didn't instil confidence to say the least. I do know there are good ones out there, though. Because someone told me.

So basically fish fingers in a porridge omelette? Erm...

All Bran? Baked beans? Fish fingers?
