if you are looking for a qotsa type sound - the tech 21 vt bass will get you close to Nick Oliveri's sound, although i see you have ampeg gear already! wah wise there are what i would class as prime candidates (Dunlop 105Q, Morley dual bass wah, and Ibanez weeping demon) in terms of mass produced choices, and plenty of more boutique options. really it's a case of try as many as you can and then make your decision based on what your ears tell you. you tube offers lots of clips of these in action, which might give you some idea where to start.

just wanted to say that we made it to the shop today, and found Richard to be a great person to deal with. the shop is well worth checking out. the pedal lines he carries at the moment are well worth the trip, let alone those soon to be arriving! I'll certainly be heading out there again before too long - once the coffers are refilled a bit!

ibanez weeping demon. probably the one of the most adjustable mass produced wahs on the market. switching manually or automatic, switching delay (on auto setting), adjustable treadle tension, volume, Q, Bass level etc... good with guitar, but awesome with bass. best of all it retails at about £110 well worth a good try.

the lpb is not a clean boost. it definitely adds something to your tone. Whether you like that or not is totally subjective. the mxr i mentioned earlier is stil probably your best bet if a clean boost is what you're after. They come up regularly on ebay as well as on forums such as this. It's not unusual to find one secondhand for about £40 or perhaps less. Where the LPB can be found new for around £30, it comes back to the colouration issue.

here is one of mine that i find works well for me in a mix. vol to suit blend 10 ish trigger full on gate in gain also 10 the eq for me is bass 1 - 1:30, mid 2:30 ish, and treble 1 ish. i also find that just using the clean channel with some boost in the mids works wonders when you dig in. hope this helps

another vote for the M80 here. a real swiss army knife of a pedal. i use mine pretty much everywhere - practice, teaching, recording, live work (both DI only and via amp) and it excels in every area as i keep getting told!
