    the hills guys IIRC generally tend to use MM or Jazz. I seem to remember Tobias (waaaaay Back), and the occasional P. just try as much as you can and just find something that suits you and has a good, solid fundamental tone.

    receiver on top of amp - 15 / 20' lead to pedal board - pedals - duplicate lead return to amp worked for me for -- years!

    Boss CEB3 - can get pretty subtle, easy to find s/h on here less than £50 my fave - MXR Black Label Chorus - all analogue, as thick as you want it, and around £79 new.

    Might be worth looking at the preamp/ di pedals out there not only a di but a useful solution if your rig dies mid gig, or if you want to do what geddy used to do and totally discard the big amp in favour of a sansamp pre/di. Leading candidates are mxr m80, sansamp bddi, aguilar tone hammer, hartke vxl and the behringer knock offs.

    i bought one of the machine gun basses from them really good to deal with. never had any issues.
